Not a massive fan of throwing Cripps in this early but if he and club are happy with it then so be, they know more than we do. I just hope we dont burn out the guy before he hits his prime.

Confirmed. Very happy with that but somehow feel a little down for Tuohy, but I guess you can't fit them all in.

The two aren't necessarily bound but he is our captain now and so be it.

Not sure how old Carey was when he became captain. I think you are right that he was very young.

Think David Dench was the youngest VFL captain for a while at 20. Could play, one of the first ever attacking backmen.

Here's the story

After undertaking an extensive leadership program this summer under new coach Brendon Bolton, the Blues announced an expanded seven-man leadership group on Monday night.

I have always been of the opinion that a five-man leadership group was too many so making it now a seven-man group seems rather excessive to me.

I'd say there is a fairly good chance that there is lucrative bonus attached to being in the leadership group.

Most clubs have leadership incentives. Usually a % of the players wage.

How about the club makes a decision on the structure and number the leadership group will be and sticks to it - year after year. This floating, changeable thing saps confidence and is too arbitrary for mine.

I understand where you are coming from there but this all smacks of too many cooks spoiling the broth.

I have heard some players do have leadership bonuses as an incentive in there contracts.

Can only hope this is why and Crippa is rapt his getting 10% payrise.

I think it may depend on the individuals contract, so who knows?
I'd say Crippa would have taken home a nice little bonus last year for winning the BnF.
