Our academy boys seem to be settling into realistic draft positions. If the club is looking to move on a large portion of non best 22 players this offseason then we could very well bring in all 6 and perhaps even Byrne and COA as rookies.
Would love to club to bring in himmelberg but given we have no scouts in QLD we may pass unless he drops to the rookie draft
I'd much rather we take 4 max., and reduce the numbers leaving. Tommo stay, Steele or Stewart stay. 6 new draftees lowers the balance of our age demographic, even now Ahern, Pickett, Flynn, Jezza 2 and McKenna have never played Ones.
Would like to see what Finlayson can do before Sproule beats him to it.

Agree with keeping tommo and Steele but if they are both offered big cash to leave I can't see them wanting to stay. It would explain Steele being left out in recent weeks in favour of hopper/Kennedy/Reid.
If we lose Steele, McKenna, McCarthy, Stewart, marchbank and Tomlinson in one off season then we need to regenerate depth again

Not sure what the word is in Sydney but the word down south is that Steele has come to terms with St Kilda.
Looking at their picks it is going to be interesting to see how they engineer something. I suspect they may back themselves to improve and offer their 2017 1st rounder as their 2016 is too high and they don't have a 2nd round pick this year.
RE the draft Perryman is important but we seriously have to look at Marshall and even Ainsworth. Actually if we only got those two it would be a bonanza but realise that won't happen.

Super talented but ill-disciplined and lazy.
Would rather develop Ahern and Pickett than give up something for him. If blokes like that can't get their shit together at good clubs things rarely change when they move.
Do wonder with the talk of Patfull considering retirement if we hold onto Tomlinson for the rest of his contract so we can get another 12mths of development into the likes of HH before he moves on, and if Tomlinson holds his spot in our first final you would have to think that's a strong possibility.
He and WHE on good money. Starting to settle into being a defender but we may have other priorities.
Still have strong faith in Ahern but everything I hear of Pickett leaves me with little hope he will come the player he should with us

Didn't he just sign a 12 month extension a couple of weeks ago?
He was offered a new 1 year contract, but last I heard is still considering if he wants to go on for one more year.

Doubt this is the case but if is wouldn't it of been easier if we drafted him back in '11 but that said our decision makers are a lot different from back then.
If they rubber stamp that they can head back to Richmond. Would be the ultimate dick move.

Can't see Longer coming north given that he bailed on Brisbane to go home to Victoria previously. He probably would be OK as the backup ruckman - not the strong 'Mummy'-like backup we wanted, but better than Downie appears to be tracking. Would mean we keep Lobb as forward/ruck, Matty Flynn as developing ruck and could offload both Simpson and Downie. Just can't see how St Kilda pay for Steele whilst GWS get value - they won't want to give up or don't have what he's worth in a first round pick or at worst early second round. More likely to trade Longer and send us whatever they get.
Still a bit nervous about our new list management team but hopefully they kill it this trade/draft period
