Will be interesting to see how Ross sets up the back line. Probably won't see it this game but we should at least see it in the WC game.
You would think that we will see it in round 1? wouldn't wait til round 3 to setup the backline!
Unless of course you were talking about the crows or cats nab game ;) (we don't play the eagles in preseason this year)

Really? My bad, thought it was the last game of the NAB, well just assumed I suppose and we all know what assuming does!!

Head of the umpires just said regarding deliberate out of bounds 'if half the crowd/ 3 quarters of the crowd think it's deliberate, it should be paid.'

Great start by the umps, stating that the crowd should influence the decision.

Great, we might actually get a positive free kick count in half our games.

Anyone know if you can buy tickets to tomorrow's game on the gate? Or is anyone keen to sell me a ticket? Cheers.
I have a spare ticket and I am retired so we can make arrangements on how you can get it off me. PM me but I am going down to be at the Sebel in Mandurah at 12.30 to do lunch with Salim Malik and Harry Reems etc Probably best to PM me through conversation function on BF .

Pretty satisfactory all round effort in hot and windy conditions. Weller and Blakely were both good. Weller had a couple of flashes of sheer brilliance while Blakely kept on accumulating possessions as he does. Nothing wrong with his Blakely's kicking, both short and long, considering the conditions. Tucker was Ok. Didn't display much penetration with his kicking - mostly slow chips.
As far as senior players went I thought Neale, Sutcliffe and Mzungu were outstanding. Hill and Walters were good as is expected. Pav's game fluctuated from the sublime to the rediculous. Barlow got lots of it but generally turned it over. Suban and De Boer were sighted occasionally but were probably focused on their blocking.
Looking forward to the next one.

Have our skills improved noticeably?
Not by a great deal at all but we should probably disregard today as it was very blustery. Still deliver the ball to Pav below his ankles and pick wrong options. But Steven Hill's kicking 2 day was sublime (his silky smooth standard) and Sutcliffe has really improved his kicking.

I though we played fairly well and the boys seemed to be taking the game reasonably serious or at least more so than previous nab cup games from memory.

In the lead up to the game the majority of my excitement was to see weller and blakely stake their claims and show their improvement after another preseason. They are a couple of favorites of mine and ive tracked them closely since they were drafted.

My thoughts had been Blakely was ahead of weller in development and was the closer of the two for a spot in the 22 possibly due to a more developed body in part although i always saw weller as having a higher ceiling.

It was only a nab cup game but i seen enough to change my veiws and firmly place weller ahead in the race. Lachie showed lighting pace, a real urgency and some pure class with the ball in hand. I personally thought he was one of our best players for the night and was suprised he didn't have more possies when i checked the stats after the game. He was consistently involved and he showed enough to give me blood in it.

To many classy involvments to list but it was a spread of hardness, class, overhead strength and hard ball winning.

Massive tick!

Is Tucker going to get a run in the season proper, racked up quite a few possessions.

Suban could be in danger of being pushed out, purely from a stats point of view, didn't look like he did much. Or do I have this wrong?

Don't think so , Suban and d.pearce are safe for best 22. Hopefully mora still get upgrade, because he will be better player to tuck if fit (size, power , strength) , tucker will be great for next season.

Mz was very good..if he can have that influence every week he'll be huge. Griff v Zarke will be interesting, and I love when Silvagni is in the team and his kicking his great!!
