How ironic that the bloke who was railroaded out of the comp two years ago ends up getting best on against us yesterday.

Miss ya Bongo.

Question: Why did we have spuds like Ned McKeown running around and not the class of Patty Karnezis, James Magner etc?

Big Ronnie still involved at NFL HQ?

Heard a couple of injuries to Macleod players yesterday. Anyone confirm?

Read that Shaw, Paynter & Brandt received head knocks but haven't spoken to anyone to get an update.
As for Ned being called a "Spud", why would anyone label the kid that way ? Obviously deserved his spot on the NFL team and held in high regard by many people. Bad call Oxymoron

Karnezis, Magner, Marigliani, Connors, Riddle, maybe Gilmore.. top of my head. I'm sure there is more
Hobbs, Legget, Treloar, Bower, Gaylard, Hooper, Sherman, D Barden, Hyde, Close.
Fair bit of talent missing, sure it was the same for Mornington though. Game should be played at the start of the season so the players have a bit of an incentive to play so that they could get a good blowout before season proper.

Why play the games at all? What do they prove? With all those names out, obviously not all think it is a good idea. Ask the Macleod staff what they think about them at the moment with 3 injuries out of the game. I'll wager that most coaches don't want their players in the game either, they have more important things on their minds.

Rumour has it, that Heidelberg has put sanctions on Banyule for the next 3 years to not allow transfers between the clubs. Surely that is incorrect?

Yep. To stop them from taking our good reserves players.

You seem to have a bit of an anti-Heidelberg agenda Basill, you're not a former disgruntled fringe player are you?

I am a little confused, how can Heidelberg or any other club for that matter, block the transfer of any uncontracted player.

Take them or wanting to leave??

ONTHEPROWL is on point.

The guys that wanted to leave have already left and I think as far as most HFC people are concerned its a bit of a relief as they were both delusional about where they stood in the pecking order and were never going to be senior players. I believe one of them, the softer of the two, even had his father write a letter to the committee expressing his disgust. Good riddance.

I believe the Heidelberg, Heidelberg West and Banyule had an agreement made, when Banyule was excepted into the NFL to limit transfers between clubs.
Surley that was in place to protect West loosing players?

But i agree, I'm not sure a club can hold a transfer regardless, unless they are contracted, owe money, apparel ect.

If this is the situation, I can only see benefits to Banyule in protecting their Junior's from departing. I can't see what benefit this would be to Heidelberg FC, unless reserves players wanted to downgrade to a Division 3 club for a regular game with payments.....but would you really want to do that ?? As previously mentioned, you can't hold a gun to people's heads

I'm not sure the player/players your are alluding to....nor do I care.

But if I could have one guess, they are players not getting senior opportunity, due to the next wave of imports to come through the door, and now being bagged for moving on elsewhere????
'the Heidelberg way' Ripping Club.

Hope that money tree is still healthy!!!

Between 2009 and 2014 over 40 players left the Banyule JFC to play at Heidelberg. When Heidelberg won their last reserves premiership 90% were made up of Banyule Junior Players. Banyule in those days just accepted it and that is why we are In the NFL today and that is why the President of Heidelberg in 2014 sent an email to all clubs in the NFL to deny Banyule's entry into the NFL. They were doing this for one reason and that was to protect the feeding ground that they had r*ped for years - Banyule JFC.

Heidelberg having a poor year in 2015 decide to spend big which means a lot of the fringe players miss out on a game. These players now wish to play football at their original club and are being refused by the NFL bullies (Heidelberg).

An agreement was put in place for 3 players originally, however, moreso to protect Heidelberg West.
The NFL this year have decided that Banyule had taken enough players and they weren't prepared to help in anyway shape or form.
The players who transferred from Heidelberg to Banyule after this latest transfer has reached 6.

Of the 6 the following has taken place:
3 Under 19s who moved across once Heidelberg's 19s folded
1 player who played 2 games with the club as he is on VFL and used them as a second club - he has exactly done the same with Banyule. This year he has played 1 game for Banyule.

Heidelberg understand that they are in trouble with the points and have no 19s or Colts players in 2016 which means that they will be targetting their next junior club in order to get an Under 19s side up and running for next year.

How can players who are playing 2nds be denied an opportunity to play seniors at their original club when this club spends a fortune and totally disregards the juniors coming through the system. They are willing to pillage other clubs but when the boot is on the other foot they can't handle it!!

Great Integrity!!

I think you know exactly who I'm alluding to. Oppourtunities? Turn it up. One left after round 1 (he had played many senior games over 5 years and failed in all of them) and the other coward pulled the pin despite being playing back to back senior matches.

I'm no way defending Heidelberg FC here, however, don't you think that if a club is run so well and the environment is attracting quality people who are involved on or off the field, that players wouldn't want to leave ? You are questioning the integrity of the football club, yet, the decisions by players to transfer between clubs are ultimately choices made by them individually.

FYI, going by the latest NFL report on the points system, all division 1 teams are comfortably under the proposed cap. No one is even close, in fact, Panton Hill in the lower division has the highest average cap of all NFL teams, so I highly doubt this to be an issue moving forward.

Exactly my point, if the players want to leave then let them go. I'm questioning the integrity of the club in trying to keep them if they don't want to be there.
They are 2s players who played all juniors at the club they wish to go to!!!

Player has been cleared on the basis that no Heidelberg player will be cleared to Banyule in 2017.
