Tell him he's dreamin'. If yesterday's game was 4 days no result would have been possible with the time lost for rain. The mindset of the captain's ain't the problem. You will always have great Test matches and dud Test matches. That's just the way it is.

I still can't believe Pakistan lost this test.T20 cricket mindset definitely helped.

The funny thing is, even though bowlers get slapped around like red-headed step-children in T20's, it's probably made their life easier in Tests because batsman are generally becoming worse at trying to dig in for long stints compared to the old days.

I mean, one of the games they showed during the rain delay had Geoff Marsh making a 50 off something like 190 balls. Imagine doing that these days - everyone would want you dropped!

In this world of modifying everything for the always unsatisfied tv audience, I would like one thing to stay the same. For me that's Test Cricket. 5 days is not too long, its actually the perfect amount of time. It's just that everything else in our life has sped up. Test cricket is the ultimate test of mental and physical application. Leave it like it is. Theres enough 'entertaining' cricket without bastardising one of the truly great games.

Short lived comeback. Ronda Rousey got blitzed.

That first overhand right is nasty but that right cross that smashed her face was brutal.

Didn't she make $3mil for a fight that lasted 48 seconds that she didn't even win? Winner made $100K. Read that somewhere - don't know how much truth there is in it.

i assume some people saw that...

Anyway, happy NYE to all.
Went on quite the rampage.

Fitzroy and GWS boards might take a few days to discover their handy work!

Happy new year folks :thumbsu:

I think I'm being obtuse but I don't understand the link between Edwards and the DNA found on the dressing gown, the Karrakatta rape victim and Ms Glennon, as they took DNA from him after his arrest. How did the police know the DNA matched Edwards before testing him?

I agree the article divulges a lot of personal information about former partners, step-children and addresses, even the prices paid for the homes. Has this been done with the hope that people with relevant information will come forward?

As I understand it they were investigating several old sexual assault cases that had never been solved - one of those was the 1988 karrakatta case which contained a nightie that they were now able to get DNA from which was a match to the DNA from at least one of the Claremont cases, maybe 2

That match meant they looked into the 1988 case in more detail and led them to Edwards. After investigating him they raided his home to arrest him and formally charged him after a positive result from the DNA test

i could have that wrong but that's how I understand it

I wish someone would pay me $3mill to get punched in the face for 48 seconds.

So is it bad taste to point out the Claremont serial killer's an eagles member?

I think it's fine to point out, although redundant at this stage given it's almost common knowledge (at least here), but I think harping on over that point is probably a little tasteless. Pretty sure we can point disparage them without needing to use a serial killer as ammo.
