Reimers saying no is going to hurt them badly IMHO. If everyone had done it, it could have been spun as being "forced" etc.

I don't think they can get any money from Essendon either. At least not for their contract for this year. Though i guess Essendon can give them an ex-grata payment for their contract amount.
Even then I really do not buy that someone of the status of Watson (or Hooker) being forced to do anything. They signed up to it, and their actions in not disclosing it to the enquiry condemns them if they did it with any kind of non intention attached.

Just FYI I moved the Essendon talk into here because there were two conversations going.

So did everyone read Jobe's statement today. What a load of nothing. http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2016-01-13/jobe-watson-statement

Honestly, I'm a bit disgusted that the players are still unwilling to bear any responsibility for this. Even if it wasn't a banned substance (which, there's pretty damning evidence showing there is), they still lied to their club doctor, their personal doctors, and omitted info on their drug testing forms. Like.. at least take responsibility for that part.

Zaharakis won't use needles therefore wasn't part of the program.

Reimers, Winderlich and Dempsey along with a host of first year players at the time, some of which are still at Essendon, are not on the list of 34.
Winderlich and Dempsey were recovering from ACLs and not involved. Reimers refused. Zaharakis disliked needles. most of the rest were fringe/first year players.

Jobe has shown all along he has no contriteness. He'd do it again if he could get away with it. That is the kind of attitude i think he has.

I doubt he will hand back his medal either, i think it will need to be taken from him. He may even refuse to return the medal itself.

Reimers thought it was dodgy from the beginning and was promptly delisted + had people having a crack at him the press after he piped up later. He has come out of this looking pretty good.

Absolutely. The mauling he got from the Bombers leadership when this first broke was reprehensible. Reimers always came across as a dick, but he is one of the few who can hold their head high. Zaha is just very lucky that he doesn't like needles or we'd probably be talking about 35 players.

Maybe that was Zaha's excuse so he wouldn't get treated in the same way Reimers did.

Almost added the bit about injuries at the time. I think first year players weren't involved hence why Baguley, J.Merrett etc aren't banned.

Thing is if Kyle Reimers said no (and he didn't even seem like the sharpest tool in the shed) why couldn't a few others?

So glad the Essendope club were handed bans, absolute farce by the AFL to cover it up.

What a joke the media trying to make the essendon players the victims, sorry but they were well aware of the drugs.

Jobe hand over the medal, as soon as the drugs stopped so did his votes.

Have the Saints sacked Carlol?

Guy snorts cocaine and now an official drug cheat, surely grounds for termination.

Some of the first year players were injected. Dell Olio was but Baguley wasn't. Seems that there might have been other factors influencing that decision.

Maybe after about 30 or so doses of taking what one player described as "concrete in the arse" you might want to ask some questions or google what you were taking.

After Reimers went public there was the rebuttal by senior player Mark McVeigh which was replayed again last night on Footy Classified. McVeigh stated the players were aware of what they were taking and signed consent forms acknowledging it.

Perhaps this whole saga will make players at all clubs be a bit a more questioning of decisions made by the hierarchy that affect them negatively, as well as the notion of not ever breaking rank when they think something is wrong - and that will be a good thing.

Yeah Mark "Spike" McVeigh worshipped James Hird and James could do no wrong. I saw that original interview at the time.

Who has copped the concrete in the arse? Yes Spike has but James hasn't really been whacked at all he got paid $1M in the suspension year and got to go to International Business Schools overseas for further education paid for by the AFL. Who will benefit from that investment? Certainly not the AFL or any member clubs.

Just watch the players sue the club, the AFL fund it, we all pay for it - the outed players all become millionaires

I'm not so sure the players would actually want it to get to court but Essendon might feel there is nothing left to lose by pulling out evidence to show the players knew exactly what was going on, it would forever destroy the players reputations.
