I hope we don't go with Stephenson. I see a guy who is a poor kick. Who can get get a heap of ball on the inside at junior level but won't be able to do that in the AFL due to his frame. That means he is going to play wing/half forward and most outside players at AFL can't get ton of possessions these days due to defensive setups. So we end up with a guy that doesn't have a lot of impact, because he can only get the ball 18 times and can't hit a target. I know he has some some positive quality's but I don't think he has upside that most people here think. Just my 2 cents. I'm hoping Raynor falls but I don't think he will.

With Rayner, LDU & Dow gone who would you take ?

Reminded me more of Jim with that slightly hunched running style.

That's enough for me to hope we draft him, whether he's actually any good is irrelevant.

Very good.

My pick for the bolter on draft night, I think he's going to fall in an awkward spot for us 25-35.

Meek is doing too good of a job at the combine.

Want him to be our project ruck.

Quickest ruck and 25/30 in the kicking drill. Holefully we got a good look at him considering he was at north ballarat.

Wouldn't mind taking a stab at mccartin too.

JS is arguably the most influential player of the top 4 picks - impact is what he does better then most.

Well there you have it, Paddy Dow is related to the late Peter Dow who played 18 games for North back in 1959 and 61. Peter was his grandfather.

[sadly prepares the "why couldn't we have just given Peter Dow another 82 games" meme]

This would be so North.
Well we never really have tried it. I'd would have been quite happy to see a heap of players rotated through the inside mid this year to see if one of them stuck. Instead we get our midfield beasts Swallow Ziebell and Cunnington (AKA the meat grinder) and most weeks get roundly smashed in the clearances anyway....

Coffield is actually quicker then Stephenson. Wasn’t expecting that. I’d be happy with either. Both have question marks, and are both a bit risky, but both could be guns.

imagine the pressure on getting the pick right.

You don't think we'd be putting blokes through the midfield if we thought they were capable of it? We specialise in drafting flankers and utilities that don't actually turn into midfielders. At least Stephenson has shown an ability to properly accumulate the footy.

Genuine question, have you watched much of both? I haven’t so I’m just going of stuff like Stats, Draft Central, and videos. I’d love to see some comments from people that have watched a few games.

Coffield is a big unit at 190 and is listed as general defender/outside mid, has better speed and kicking efficiency and averages a goal game. Stephenson has him covered for goals @1.1 but has shown he can kick bags and play multiple positions. No doubt Stephenson is more dynamic.

This from Draft Cerntal

Nicholas Coffield is one of the few Northern Knights players likely to come under consideration to be drafted. Others include Richmond father-son prospect Patrick Naish, who has shown his smarts and skills on the outside, while Jack Petruccelle‘s lightning speed and marking ability makes him one of the more exciting players in the draft pool.

Coffield is one who hasn’t got a lot of plaudits and his start to the season has been superb flying under the radar to some. The 190cm outside midfielder is a good size and is averaging 21.5 disposals at 81 per cent efficiency, as well as averaging a goal a game. He also possess elite speed,

JAIDYN Stephenson emerged as one to watch during the 2015 TAC Cup finals series as a 16-year old. Now, he’s an out-and-out star with a unique mix of traits that make him one of the most exciting prospects in this year’s draft cohort.

While he’s massively boosted his midfield minutes, Stephenson looks most at home inside the forward-50 where he can win games off his own boot and work his magic around goals. At 189cm and with a sub-three second 20m sprint time, Stephenson is dangerous both in the air and at ground level, making him a complete forward.

This year in particular has seen Stephenson juggle both roles though, and his average of 23.2 disposals and a goal per TAC Cup game indicate that he’s doing so quite easily. He’s one of those players who is capable of a fabled ’30 and 3’ game, and he almost did so in his crowning performance to date – 28 disposals and 5 goals against South Australia in this year’s National Championships.

I’d love to hear from people that have seen these lads in the flesh.

Yeah I'm not a draft expert by any means, just responding to the "turn into midfielder" comment, something we have not done well at all under the current regime. I might be wrong but didn't Stephenson average 30 touches over the last month or so after moving up the ground?
