Preview 2017: how do we bounce back?

Love being a hawk - awesome club! Looking forward I think we desperately need an attacking half back like a pittard. Our rebound from the back half is pretty ordinary at the moment.

We dropped short one year, if Izzy gets that kick last week we are nowhere near these panic stations

Keep the same system, manage player movements/trade period, reload and hit em again next year.

Some retirements may be in order, but those senior players will make those decisions themselves, they've earned that.

Birchall hasn't been himself this year and has been injured a lot the past few years.

Played 24 games in 2011, 23 games in 2012, 17 games in 2013, 25 games in 2014, 22 games in 2015 and 24 games this year. If we are going to malign 4 time premiership stars can we at least not make shit up.

Based on this season we need to address the following areas:

2. Run and carry off half back- Birchall hasn't been himself this year and has been injured a lot the past few years. Duryea is a decent kick but doesn't provide much run. Gibbo is usually a great user of the ball but again doesn't have the speed and Stratton is a lock down defender. Not sure how we address this one given our current personnel unless someone like Smith plays off a half bank flank but that reduces our midfield speed significantly.
).

Think this is why clarko rolled the dice with burton late. He will play behind the ball next year if we can keep him fit. Kiwi should also get game time, gibbo to be passing the baton there.

Strange feeling to end a season like ... this.

Should be the catalyst to shed some players that aren't going to be part of the next push. The old guys shouldn't necessarily be cut, they can be managed and eased out, but some of the young guys just aren't going to make it, and they should be cut out out.

No need to decide straight away.

Am i the only one think bruest may leave us and we need to consider offers?
We have alot of fwds coming through the ressies and i think it may be time to part ways. Hope i am wrong though.

Sicily will be off in the O'Meara trade.

Boy do we need JOR to have a massive pre season.

Mitchell needs to come in

Vickery comes in

Hodge, gibbo, birch and bruest gone i think

Trading Luke Breust now would definitely be 'selling low'. At his best, he's one of the best half forwards in the league. He fell short of that this year but we don't need to make the vacuum of talented players in their early/mid 20s any more prominent than it already is.

Add Duryea to the list of players not up to it.
Worth keeping the oldies for one last crack at it.
Burton and Howe are up to it.
O'Brien, Brand, Hartung, Sicily and Shoe need to prove they can contribute regularly or be moved on.
Most of all we need some hard and fast mids.

Sell him on potential seems to be thing with gcs and tiges hahahahaha

We're a 4-8 side next year, depending on how trade period goes.

Think a couple of the older brigade may hang them up,

I trust Clarko & the coaches to get the best out of what's left.

O'Brien - give him one more chance
Brand - I've seen enough to know he's a plodder
Hartung - reminds me of the Steven Greene, Tim Ckarke type players. Just not up to it - let go
Sicily - needs Roughie to help him on the field, not off it. Unlikely for the big fella so I'd trade him while he's still got some worth.
Shoe - played 3 or 4 great games for the club - very little in between. Had enough - time to go

I honestly can't believe the crap I'm reading about our defenders. If it wasn't for Gibbo, Strats, Frawley and Birchall we'd have been playing an elimination final in week 1 this year. Birchall has a couple of bad games and everyone is acting like Guy Pearce from Memento.

Don't you worry - I reckon whoever goes will be told Monday. Footy clubs don't mess around.

There's a lot of guys cooked. I just think it's been a really really long 5 years. Some of these guys have effectively played an extra half a season in that time.

This is 2009 again.

12 months of revamp, reload, tinker, trade.

And bloody look out AFL in 2018.

Playing hurt might have been better. Has been hampered this year and some of last year which hasn't allowed him to play at his best.

Also, I wasn't maligning him. Just pointing out that he hasn't played his best footy in the second half of the year. Still think he has a role to play next year or two but needs support. Think he missed Suckling's presence as well.

out next year
Gibbo
McEvoy
Hartung
Langford

Ins
Omera
T Mitchel
Vickery

In best 22
Burton
Stewart
Lovell
Harwick

theres every chance we will never see a team win 3 in a row.

Maybe just take some time and reflect on what we've achieved.

Why do that when we can throw numerous babies out with the bath water, callously disregard multiple premiership legends and basically go all Dr Nick Riviera with our list!!
