I would normally 100% agree with all of you.

Seeing puctures of Rocky he looks like a completely new footballer.
I remember him for the past two pre-seasons looking genuinely tubby, this pre-season he looks lean as heck.
Imo his injures have come from an interrupted preseason or being a lazy fat turd.
Hence the midyear points burst as he gains his fitness.
Purely from.pics I'd estimate he's fitter than he's ever been at any stage of his afl career.

If he continues this way thru preseason he's a lock for me at M4

He definitely looks in the best shape of his career and a new coach could be good for him.
Maybe. Just maybe if he starts the year as a under 5% POD I'd re consider but the burn is real.

Solid. I do believe Neale had minor knee surgery which has interrupted his preseason but still a star

Not sure I'll start with him but a good hold on cash for now while I work on other areas. He easily becomes Treloar, Selwood etc but I do like him.

I reckon a fit Fyfe might help him too. He got lost in the contest sometimes last year. Fyfe being the bull he is may help release him to space a bit for some easier stats.

He is a lock for me this year.
I can see him getting back to his SC best. He is definitely worth the risk this year

I want Rock but I'm scared to go near him. I've burned about 7 in/out trades on him over last 2 seasons.

Saw footage of JOM running at training. Looked in good nick.

FYI we have a physio on the saints board.

He was saying that it's not so much the running that's the issue but more the impact associated with being tackled or driven into the ground that will cause the problems.

Buyer beware.

Rors - was my quoting of you about right? Thanks for helping the SC community!

Buyer beware agreed. Just noting that it's good to see him on the track.

Any info on Saints Freeman (hamstring)?

Apparently from the ITK'S he is well ahead of where he was this time last year. He is flying but it's early days.

Finished 4th in the 3km time-trial trial today. Been consistently performing well and apparently been striding out in match simulation.

I'm cautiously hopeful. But like I said, it's early days

Most interesting thing about Rocky is that he ranked (by my numbers at least) 3rd in top 100 scorers on points per min / points at 100% TOG basis. If increased fitness allows him to even just get up close to average % TOG for position, that's another 11ppg at his clip.

Have been burnt, too, currently leaning towards not starting him, but Jesus that upside sticks out like dogs' balls if it all clicks.

My thoughts exactly re Fyfe. Think he may help push Neales avg to 115. Think they will feed off each other and compliment one another beautifully. He will def end up in my team before the buys

Is anyone seriously considering Gaj? I wasn't but am worried starting without him and he is in my team ATM. BEST SC PLAYER EVER! But he is getting long in the tooth. How much fwd time will he play? Is he fully over his injury? Will Rocket want to get some kids in the guts to develop? I still think he will predominantly play in the midfield but the element of risk is high. He could be a unique player to start with this year.

What are your thoughts on McCarthy/Ryan?

Reckon they will play most games?
McCarthy will play every game. He is impressing everyone on the track. His fielding kicking, marking on the lead and goal kicking are all sublime. He just doesn't look like a footballer, but he is. It was commented on our board that he looks like Bart Simpson grown up.

Luke Ryan has only just started preseason after being injured unfortunately. Personally I think he would have to have a huge preseason from now to line up round 1. I think he will be starting the season at Peel.

From what we have seen at training we are continuing with Crozier and Weller as our hbfs. Which our board are happy with.

Most of our best 22 threads have a similar backline.
Spurr - Alex Pearce - Hamling
Weller - Johnson - Crozier

With perhaps Ibbotson on the bench as our 7th defender. Bit of dicussion going on now about round 1 and who takes Hawkins. Dawson towelled him up last year and it was a big reason Geelong struggled to beat us. Or do we give the gig to our favourite son Alex Pearce.

Thank you for the reply mate :)

Fitter than ever, full preseason.

New coach

One of 5 who are capable of high 120s average

I usually pick and hold Rocky each year but I'm more nervous this year.

Accounts are that he's basically viewed himself as above any game planning or system to date. He's always been good for a solid 25-30 touches, but the huge games come with the bigger numbers and his self-admitted padding of stats. With the new coach and new staff basically given carte blanche to rejig the joint, I think Rocky's had a rude awakening - especially after the lack of trade interest in him - and I think there'll be less of his cheap one-twos this year so he might underperform compared to previous years. However due to his injury affected games he might still overperform his price.

It's GAJ but too many ifs for me.
If he was 500-550k he would be more appealing.

Too much of a risk. He will go huge as always when he is fit, and may be that we all kick ourselves for not having him. But then he's likely to cop another injury the week we all bring him in.

Better to fondly remember the SC God he was than to sour your memories by having him burn you late in his career.
