Classic Janus, he's at it again.

Apparently the Kochie bitchfest is for show to stir up attention and both clubs will release limited edition jumpers, all this is a beat up and Port don't have an issue.

Then he went on to say the AFL have given Port a tough start as the AFL want Port to fail and for China to be a success for the Gold Coast.

Lots of whacky weed over there.

What does Tony Cochrane say?

Attack needs to win the ball from midfield. Ruck contests and clearances are one way to get the ball inside 50, there are many others. Do we have a weak midfield or not? What are the aspects of our midfield that make it weak? As a defense, would you rather have Port's midfield or Adelaide's midfield in front of you controlling delivery of balls into your defensive 50?

You have a midfield that is great in its ability to move the ball quickly in transition but poor when it comes to creating play that doesn't originate from defence with your counter attack or from attack with your forward press.

It's the football equivalent of a skateboarding half pipe.

Apparently the AFL are leaving it up to the clubs to sort out who wears what.

Kochie is going on about a contract that says Gold Coast must wear their away guernsey.

What I read is that the Gold Coast's away guernsey is actually their home guernsey with the sponsors swapped around, their white guernsey is a clash, there is no clash.
I reckon GC will wear the white jumper. They have said nothing about this and have probably already agrred to. All of the noise about this is coming from Port.

After months of grandstanding and Kochie waving his finger when they run out in the white he can then say he was the heavy hitter who made it happen. This further feeding his ego as the "Kochoe saved the club" legend gains another chapter.

To Tealster Lemmings and bored housewives Kochie is a God.

So you believe a back six should be rated based on the points they conceded when their midfield lost hitouts and therefore effective clearances by a fair margin?

We gave up 1939 points from 1204 inside 50s over 22 games - 1.61 points per entry. You gave up 1795 points from 1106 over the same period - 1.62 points per entry.

So yeah, our back six is better than yours. Deal with it.

This is the kind of hack statistical analysis that makes me think the closest you come to a footy coach is the bus ride to and from the games each weekend.

You talk about how great your midfield is, and I tend to agree it is one of the better (and older) midfields in the comp. Ours is younger and probably not as great defensively. Your stats dont talk about the quality of i50 the opposition get.

I would suggest that in most games we are behind in the clearance stats. Watching us play we often concede a centre clearance which leads to a clean entry for the opposition. Which makes it harder for our guys to defend. Yet they do it well.

Your midfield is better than ours and thus opposing teams don't get as clean a forward entry. Which is easier to repel and thus the raw stat looks nice. If your defenders had to deal with the clean entries our guys have to repel, that stat would look a lot different.

Also have you got a breakdown of this stat with and without the traditional Kern "Move Westhoff to loose man in defence when a run of scoring happens". This is a panic move that happens when your backline fails, but robs you of an attacking option.

Aussie Rules is not a linear sport like Baseball. You cant just analyse the game with one stat and say side X is on par or better than side Y because of this. This reason is why David King will never coach.

How many points were scored from outside 50 for each side?

In fairness to ports defence, ports midfield would be by far the worst bunch of downward skiing mids in the comp. They all seem to sprint as fast as they can into the forward line desperate to clog that up and kick their own goals. This ultimately leaves the defence massively exposed on the turn overs. The culture is there. Wines suggested he was given a massive smackdown by Ken for doing just that.

It's a mystery isn't it? Port is soooo talented, and statistically the best at everything, and yet Port is still a pile of poo.

Have you narrowed down that stat yet? You know, the one that explains why Port are still so shit?

I've never encountered a club or person that talks themselves up so much, yet continually fails.

I'd be more concerned that your team was conceding an extra 98 inside 50s - or 4 per game. The difference between 1.61 and 1.62 is not statistically significant. The difference between 54.7 and 50.3 probably is statistically significant.

i think she was pointing out the fact that carlton hire past plaers

could be wrong
You are wrong. The point about the post was having a go at Trigg - one of many, many, many such posts on this board.

Attacking Trigg became tiresome years ago, but some people just can't help themselves when presented with an opportunity.
