Fair enough , I think that the alignment will not benefit both club long term if that is the case. Peel won the flag first time last year , if the reserve and the colt do make the final series this year , then it will prove that the alligment always strike to improve .

I rather see sean Darcy and strnadica improve in their actual position in reserve league then play out of position in senior to accompanied griffin and Clarke . these two got a lot of game experience ( afl and wafl) and body size , if you are peel coach, strategy wise will always prefer to win then development freo young kids ( play them out of position).

Has Darcy got the fitness to debut this year? Potentially against Brisbane if we rest Sandi? Or is he still too raw to play an AFL game this year?

The only way I can see him playing this year is as the second ruckman behind Sandi. I can't see him playing as the sole ruck, you have to be so fit to do that at AFL level.

Unless Sandilands is carrying a 2-3 week injury I can't see us resting him literally the week before the bye.

Might happen later though. I'd like to see a Darcy debut at some point. Our draw could've been easier this year tbh. We were supposed to get three bottom six sides - we got two (which happened to be Richmond and Essendon who were clearly the most likely bottom six sides to improve). Wouldn't complain that much though - could certainly be harder.
 
A Darcy debut for me would be when we rest Sandi
Go 40-45% Darcy rucking 30-35% Taberner and 25% Johnson rucking, don't waste our time with Griffin.

It would be a one game thing unless Darcy impresses enough, just need to give him a taste.
 
I'd love to see Darcy get a game somehow too.

Would match committee ever consider playing the 2, but essentially giving Sandi 60% game time and Darcy the one 40%? Never have the 2 on the ground at the same time, but basically have 2 players play 1 position?

I understand all the cons, but unless Sandi gets injured or genuinely rested I don't see Darcy getting a game this year. That's also ok because he's not really suppose to, but I'd love to give him a taste and then hit the WAFL again with all that AFL knowledge and experience behind him.

Surely a couple of AFL games are worth 10 WAFL games at his age.

Thoughts?

I agree.

I'd definitely like for him to have it clear in his mind what he needs to improve over preseason because he has fallen short in a few matches at AFL level.

I don't want him to come up against the likes of Mumford, Goldstein, Gawn, Martin etc.

The Geelong rucks aren't super bulls, but does it cost us a massive advantage to not have Sandi against the lesser rucks and potentially cost us the match?

I can't argue with our wins this season, but if we were 3-6 the idea of getting games into the likes of Darcy, Ryan, Cox etc is fine.
It's impossible to get a handle on where we sit, but we are in rebuild mode and youth still needs to be at the forefront of our minds.
I'm a bit worried Logue, Tucker, Balic and a few others may not get as many games now.
It will be hard to balance.

Not really. Tim Kelly impressed again but it seems AFL clubs don't like what he has to offer and he's not really what we need in any case.

Quite liked the look of Matt Hanson from the VFL side and Corey Adamson surprised me. But that's about it.

Good to see big Strnadica playing League again. Will be interesting how well this team does against Subi who are in pretty good form.
 
Dawson really on the outer. Lining up at CHF to give Cox and Collins the defensive posts. Would love to see Zac kick a few bags and put pressure on our forwards!!
 
Anyone at the Peel colts game? Interested in any info on Michael Stevens. Kicked all 3 of their goals so far and booted 4 in each of his last two games. Listed @ 191cm. Smokey in the draft perhaps?

He'll have to be pretty darn good to get noticed with a name like that.

The AFL is all about the Orazio Fantasias and Harrison Himmelbergs of this world. Mike Stevens sounds like your plumber.

If you have an ordinary name, you need something else to get noticed. Joe Daniher's moustache has 257000 followers. Griffin Logue was probably going to be third round last draft, but that hair! Bondy and Lloydy were seduced by 'do.

Anyway good luck to the kid. Hope he makes it. Gotta go, need to call my lawn mower guy, Randolph von Fuentes jnr.

There was a Michael Stevens a few years back that played for Port and North. Younger brother of Anthony Stevens. None of that would help his cause of being noticed either. Although clubs may need to fill their quota of at least two Michaels on their list.
