Bully reporting Fiorini will likely play on a back flank until his body is "where it needs to be". Says he has put on 7kgs in the last year so not far off.

Also says the backline move is for experience reasons as well. Similar to Swallow in previous years.

A bloke like Joyce would be shaking his head.

Jack Martin and now Fiorini going to the backline are going to squeeze a few blokes out.

At least Rocket has confirmed that Hanley will pretty much be playing exclusively in the midfield.

Going to be a bit strange early doors to see fit and healthy AFL standard players in our NEAFL side. Looking forward to debating team selection where the players discussed have earned their spot. What an alien concept.

Barring a good run with injury i can see our NEAFL team pushing for a premiership , come halfway through year they will introduce our gun kids in Crossley , Simington , Dawson and Boakye . It is exciting to finally see some depth in our club.

For me, it will be incredible to see an injury free list with every player accountable for their position.

The way that the team meshes as a whole and each individual 'buys into' the belief that yes, we can, will make the difference this season.

Not to mention some quality recently acquired :thumbsu:

How is big Jack Leslie looking pre-season? If the guy can't get a gig at GCS club another AFL might be prepared to give him a rookie contract in 2018.

I am actually hoping he takes Mays spot and May moves either forward ( which was his junior position) or becomes the 3rd defender. I like Sam but I think May could offer more in the forward line.

Steven May? As in top 3 KPD in the AFL Steven May?

I don't understand, May has a body of work that proves he is an elite KPD, and you want to move him to the forward line based on one game where he kicked 4 goals against Hawthorn?

He was a forward all of his junior career,

I think he would be a better option than Day as a third tall forward and give Leslie a go down back but I am starting to wish I never mentioned it

You can get a Zac Dawson to just lock down on an opponent (or potentially Sam Day/Jack Leslie for us). It is worth having the conversation that sometimes his maximum value for the team is not to lock down on the best opposition player if we have players who can do that aspect of the job to 90% of what May can do.

Personally I like his attacking flair with 3rd man up spoils, kicking out of defence and ability to take intercept marks. There is no player on our list that can do all the offensive things that May can do as KPD to his standard. If any of the KPD are getting beaten badly you can always switch May on to them to lock them down.

Whenever I think of May as an attacking 3rd defender I think it makes us a more dangerous side and utilises his unique talents.

He's an elite backman. I'm not sure if your serious? A lot of the best key defenders were forwards as youngsters because you don't really play talented tall juniors down back when your trying to showcase their ability. He's a 10x better defender than he is a forward. Aside from that one game he always struggled forward.
