Training 2017 Preseason

Tom Hawkins says hi... Took 6 years for him to get going. His 4th year he finally played a lot of games (24 I believe including finals) showed some signs but only kicked 34 goals (in a premiership winning side). 5th year played less games and averaged 1.5 goals then in the 6th he exploded (2.8 goals per game)

Big bodied keys take time. Geelong supporters wanted to cut Tom around the 3/4/5 year mark and it's all worked out pretty well.

Certainly want to see consistency and improvement from Close but especially considering the injuries it's far from make or break in my book.

The other one is Daniher and he was considered good enough to go potentially no 1, or at least very highly, the year he got drafted. Is only in the last year starting to find his feet.

Plus he has had a lot more support around him in his first few years

Big difference between those two and Close. Hawkins and Daniher were both elite rated juniors who both would have been in pick 1 discussions if not for the fact they were f/s, Hawkins in particular. Wasn't the rule changed due to Hawkins?

Michael Close is far from the elite rated especially as a junior.

I admire your uncle's indomitable spirit. At least 6 separate trips to the Gabba have resulted in him having the shit beaten out of him, but he just keeps on fronting up. What a hero!
