Maybe but I don't think that I could handle such a dismal season as last year though. Some of those games were torture to watch from start to finish.
It's going to be another couple of years with a similar win/loss record. We have the youngest list in the comp and it's going to take time to build a game plan that stands up. We have drafted well over the past 2-3 years (well mostly) and brought in older guys who can fill a role but will never be superstars (outside of Beams)

I'd be happy this year if we win 4-6 game but are competitive for the majority of the rest. Last year we only had 1 loss by less than 26 points. Getting the percentage up in the 80-90% range would be a huge improvement.

Most of all I want some hope when I watch the guys play. We all know the guys have tried hard but their skills have been terrble the last 7-8 years.

I hope the new coaching panel improves this with the focus on skill improvement across the board.

Put a band-aid.

We are not putting band-aids on anymore.......they just prolong the healing process, and in some cases, let the wound fester, and where we have put on more band-aids, the next thing you know we have a contagious infection which runs rampant ...... and so on and so on..

.....after years of the band-aid treatment, we finally decide to get a breath of fresh air, plenty of it, we rip off those band-aids, taking a 'you'll live, get up and get on with it" attitude...

...gradually, you start to realise no more bleeding, no more need for band-aids.

A healthy, happy atmosphere is invading instead of the dreaded bleeding infection that plagued those poor Lions for years and years....we can see they are getting up, shaking themselves off from the lethargy, the sparkle is to be seen in their eyes....

...they are beginning to prowl, looking around, ready to face the world again, and the growl is building from the bottom of their souls..

Nah, no more bleeding.......and no more band-aids.

Bring on season 2017!

Would be a close run thing on which Lions anecdote has been flogged to death more by Lions players/officials...

"Browny's doughnuts on debut" or "Leppa and Lethal in the lift".

I always like the 'Danny Dickfos, most games without a goal' one and 'What V1 said to sledge V2'

some serious talent among the dads there, anyone know how highly the sons are rated? IIRC Lachlan Harris is rated pretty highly.
Didn't quite come on last year (either in form or growth). Was in the U16 metro side but didn't make the rep side last year. Has a bit of ground to make up. But is a good kid, fingers crossed.

He's 22 with 4 years in the system. I'd argue it is make or break, this is around the time the big keys need to start showing some consistency otherwise he'll definitely lose his spot to some of the younger guys with greater potential.
Tom Hawkins says hi... Took 6 years for him to get going. His 4th year he finally played a lot of games (24 I believe including finals) showed some signs but only kicked 34 goals (in a premiership winning side). 5th year played less games and averaged 1.5 goals then in the 6th he exploded (2.8 goals per game)

Big bodied keys take time. Geelong supporters wanted to cut Tom around the 3/4/5 year mark and it's all worked out pretty well.

Certainly want to see consistency and improvement from Close but especially considering the injuries it's far from make or break in my book.

Was behind quite a few in the Sandringham side (evidenced by how many got drafted out of that side). You might have a better read on his school footy form. It will be interesting to see his development this year. His height will count against him, but height has probably been less relevant in the eyes of recruiting than I can remember.
