Perfect world, Melbourne play Gawn and Spencer, Gawn scores 80, 50 another 80 odd. His price goes down quicker than an ACDC groupie and Melbourne drop Spencer after realizing how shit it works, then we pick Gawn up for 500k round 5 or 6 :D :D :D
I think gawn will push out good scores regardless. But hoping to pick up cheap

I find ruckmen really hard to judge when it comes to who they should score well against. I mean, last year rucks should have been scoring 130+ vs us, but we seemed to nullify them more than any other team.

Gawn - 49
Goldy - 52, 127
Mumford - 84
Martin - 69
Jacobs - 76
Grundy - 63, 107
NicNat - 71

I agree that Martin is a good pick, just think it's dangerous to try and predict what a ruck is going to score against another ruck.
Sadly its become somewhat based on the midfield they come up against. Dogs excellent at sharking taps and take away the points to advantage as they are a strong midfield group. Same with GWS in JLT v Goldstein last round.

Will PA play 2 rucks (Ryder and Lobbe) or go with Ryder and Trengrove to relieve? What's the general consensus on the PA board?
Cheers!

I don't like the midfield Goldy is tapping to and he seems to have injury niggles every single year which send us into panic mode every second week. I'm not keen on him to be honest but I am looking for Gawn alternatives.
The problem with North's midfield isn't at the stoppages or with helping Goldy get HTA, it's that they're not damaging enough on the outside and have had problems defending lost stoppages and running 2 ways (but the 2 worst culprits of that are gone. OK, 2 of the 3 worst culprits). Cunnington, Swallow, Ziebell are all good clearance players, Dumont shows a bit and Higgins will be good as long as he's on the park. Beat the Swans for clearances in JLT, held their own with GWS but JOM and Titch beat them in JLT2.

I'm still going Gawndilands and not Goldy though. Best case is I upgrade Sandi to him around the byes.

Aren't Roughead and and the other dude dead atm? It was quite strange last year that the dogs did keep killing ruckman scores, but even if they keep that up I don't think it'll be as bad as last year now that 3rd man up is goneski.

I've got Sandi locked in at R2. Massive value and I don't mind taking Ryder/Nank up forward as insurance. After last year I'm always gonna look to grab ruck cover at some stage and I believe that neither will be available as cheap during the year so happy days welcome R/F swing.

Really coming around to taking Stef Martin at R1 if Archie Smith isn't named round 1. Is a beast when going solo, and coming off a horror year has what I think is a pretty favourable draw for a ruckman.
In order, until his bye, he goes up against; Witts, McKernan, Hickey, Nank, Whoever is rucking for the Bullies, Ryder, Tippy, McEvoy, Jacobs and Grundy. Out of that I see at least 6 games where he'll come out on top fairly easily. Hickey is a bit of an unknown, Ryder will beat him in the air so he'll need to get a stack of touches that week and will split the points against the Swans brigade and Grundy imo.
Agreed, Stef has certainly come back into calculations for me. Sandi has been locked in all preseason.

At the moment I'm tossing up between Gawn, Roo and a rookie at F5 Vs. Stef, Gunston and Nank at F5.

Lobbe can GAGF for all i care

no chance Ken plays Lobbe/Ryder in the same side.

our side against Hawthorn will be really close to how we line up in round 1

im picking Gawn because I know he will have his 150+ games 1 or 2 times a month - captain scores. just need to pick which ones they are.
While I'm expecting Gawn to average closer to 110, than 118, no reason why he cant go 115+

Goodwin played Spencer as he didnt want Gawn to burn out late in the season. Spencer wont play more than 1 or 2 games max during the season.

by please, drop Gawn :)

I can't see Spencer getting too many games during the year. And your point about not burning Gawn out is a good one. However if Spencer is picked round one there's no way I'm picking Gawn. In saying that if things go to crap round one with both playing there's a fair chance Spencer never gets another game with Gawn. But that's what you'd be banking on. Reality is if the team plays well and they work well in tandem Goodwin will keep playing both.
Personally from a SuperCoach point of view I hope Gawn goes it alone. And from a Melbourne supporter point of view I also hope he goes it alone.
