And the Robbo, Mav and Hughey connections to Freo and Fyfe. Also Roo and Fyfe are mutual admirers of each other.

Robbo and Fyfe are good mates

I never knew this but as a fan on the outside what you guys are saying makes sense. Seem to have similar personalities albeit roberton seems to be a bit more family orientated

Do you think we are a chance at weller. Wellers marked for the half back line now under Ross. I feel that's playing him out of position. Plus there's talk freo have JJ across the line

So was Mav on The Footy Show and did anyone see him on there?

I watched the start - he got a really awkward question from Bec that rambled from his time at the GC to being delisted to being rookied to being leadership to asking about how our year will go. Standard response.

Sam asked him if his name was really Maverick.

Dave asked if he had a tattoo with his name.

Riveting stuff.

St Kilda premiership hero Barry Breen looking forward to
‘exciting’ time after Bulldogs success

ST KILDA premiership hero Barry Breen says Western Bulldogs’ extraordinary premiership win last year has fuelled hopes the Saints can also pull off something special.

St Kilda was one the most impressive teams throughout the JLT Community Series, with two wins and only one narrow loss to the Sydney Swans.

After missing out on finals only by percentage last year, and adding Jake Carlisle, Nathan Brown, Koby Stevens and Jack Steele in the trade period, Breen said the club had strong cause for optimism about their prospects this season.

Breen said the Dogs proved young sides could aim high, and was hopeful veterans Nick Riewoldt, Leigh Montagna and Sean Dempster could return to the Grand Final stage after missing out in heartbreaking fashion three times in 2009-10.

“I think it (Bulldogs win) has engendered a sense of ‘it can be done’,” Breen told the Herald Sun.

“Some of the heavyweights like the Hawthorns and the Geelongs, they have been up there for so long, so there is that feeling of opportunity and it’s certainly going to be exciting.”

The Saints have the second-longest premiership drought in the game, behind only Melbourne.

Breen believed the 1966 Saints were not unlike the current crop, declaring “there was the same sort of feeling” amongst the side.

“When we moved to Moorabbin we had a side with lots of great players and we were on the cusp,” he said.

“I think we are on the cusp again now and it’s great that Moorabbin (where the Saints are building their new headquarters) is going to see that success.”

Will the Saints storm into the eight?
Breen said Riewoldt, in particular, was an inspirational figure to the younger players at St Kilda as they attempt to break their six-year finals drought this season.

“It’s great that it looks as though he will have that opportunity (to play in September again), if all things go well,” he said.

“You just want that for all of those guys who have put so much in over the last period, because it (on-field success) means everything to those guys.

“You just hope they can play long enough to see that happen.”

The Saints have the eighth-oldest list and play eight of their first 10 games at Etihad Stadium, and their last four home and away matches of the season in Melbourne.

Chief executive Matt Finnis said the signs over summer were encouraging.

“We have been very deliberate about the plan, there are no short cuts and we love the way the players have brought in to Richo’s (coach Alan Richardson) game plan and his broader philosophy on football,” Finnis said.

“There has been a noticeable lift in the competitiveness on the track over summer and we have got good players competing for limited spots and that is a good sign of a healthy team.

“But we have still got a fair bit of work to do to bridge that gap between our best and out west performances.

“We are really pleased with the preseason we have had and we can’t wait for the start of the season.

“Usually we hear a lot of about the Thursday night game (between Carlton and Richmond) but I think there is a fair bit of excitement about the Saints and the Demons on the Saturday afternoon (in Round 1).”

Great debut by Richo tonight on AFL 360.
But seriously....get the man a shirt sponsor, he's looking a little under-dressed.

Good to hear Dal's going to have a weekly spot as well.

Carn the Saints :heart::mwcirlce::mbcircle:
