Thanks for posting George.......it was magic...LOVED IT.

Gee...Paddy looked in pretty good nick to me.....the way some of the posters have been carrying on......you'd expect him to be eating a pie !!!!!

Mark Evans... Hawthorn to the AFL back to Hawthorn...

Spare me.
If we lose either Finnis or Ameet you have to question how sides not flush with cash are ever going to be able to compete using the AFL recommended structure

They basically handed us ameet and finnis. If they're going to then be poached by hawthorn it shows a worrying sign that the smaller clubs could be used as a development club for the bigger clubs in all aspects

Uh.... that's always been the case.

Tom Browne reporting Hawthorn are trying to poach Ameet and Finnis.

*****.

Now I'm not saying that this is not true but it has been my experience in business that executive level typically jump ship for reasons other than simple $'s. No matter the amount.
Sometimes it can be as simple as prestige.
But more often it is either a new task, a new environment or best of all, a combination of new task and new environment.
In other words: challenges.
You might be surprised but it is actually quite hard to prise an executive loose from an organisation, particularly if that executive is happy being there.
So we need to ask ourselves:
What opportunity could Hawthorn offer Finnis that he's not getting at St Kilda?
The only worthwhile gig for him would be Chief Executive - but he's already doing that at St Kilda.
No. More likely that Finnis would move to Head Office.
What opportunity could Hawthorn offer Bains that he's not getting at St Kilda?
Certainly not his current role - the only worthwhile gig for him would be Chief Executive. That would be attractive.
We have to resign ourselves to the fact that both these guys are capable individuals, and most likely in high demand.
It is inevitable that they will move on at some point.
However it is unlikely that they will do so simply for $'s.
I suspect that both are ambitious. They will move when offered positions that suit their ambition. The $'s will follow.
Doing the same gig at another club ain't going to fulfill that ambition.
I also suspect that the Club has identified their essential personnel (both Finnis and Bains would qualify) and would have in place either retention strategies, or succession plans.
And finally I would also suspect that Bains may be being groomed as a Finnis replacement anyway.
So Hawthorn attempting to poach Finnis and Bains with $'s may succeed.
It may not.
More likely, Finnis and Bains will stay with St Kilda but on higher $'s.

However if I was Bains and Hawthorn came at me with the offer to be Chief Executive: I'd take it.

I have no idea what Tom Browne is trying to say in his tweet.

I initially thought he meant Finnis into Hawks CEO, and Baines to St K CEO.

But then this thread thinks something else. So I went to read the tweet again and it makes no sense. Absolute gibberish from a journalist

Finnish yes but I feel as
