Alrighty lads and ladies, it's time! Post your sides if you please and show us how you're team is looking.

Seeing as it's open day how can you not build a team?? This is my first attempt of a team, which essentially means no more than five of these guys will be on my side come the first lockout. :tearsofjoy:

I've essentially gone guns n' rooks with a stacked midfield:

Early thoughts (incomplete)

D: Yeo, Laird, Hurley/Crisp, 3 rookies (O'Shea, Doedee, Murphy perhaps). 170k, 170k

M: T.Mitchell, Rockliff, Merrett, Coniglio, Beams, Redden, 2 rookies. 170k, 170k.

R: Gawn, Naitanui. 170k, 170k.

F: Heeney, Walters, Lobb, Ah Chee, 2 rookies (Ryan, Higgins perhaps). 170k, 170k.

Leaves me with around 100-150k (depending on which midfield rookies I pick on field) in the bank at this time.

Do we have a thread for making leagues for 2018? Happy to assist if needs be.
Not yet,it's still early days though, doona has done a good job of organizing them last couple of years so it's worth waiting to see if he'd like to do it otherwise I'm more than happy to do it as well. :)

Pretty settled on something like this until JLT comes along and cause me to make 1000 changes.

Got a few 50/50 calls like Billings or Buddy but for the most part i am pretty happy with this. Bench rooks are just filling in spaces for now to see who performs in the pre season and who is named round 1.

Feels like footy season is already back now this is open. Can't wait!

Heres a team I put together quickly, just seeking some other coaches advice. Obviosuly rookies change after JLT series. But some quick notes/questions:
Do you think I have to many mid priced mayhem players? Brayden Maynard is looking at midfield minutes, Callum Mills should spend more time in the midfield going into his 3rd year. Petrecca and De Goey I hoped would have break out seasons last year as midfielders... hoping they will do that this year.
Aaron Francis does anyone know how his pre season is tracking? has all the tools apparently besides fitness?

Yeah I would cut down at least 1 or 2. Pick which ones you think will definitely get more time and therefore score more premium, and trade another pair for a premo + rookie IMO.

I would get rid of Cox and try and get Gawn by culling a couple of mid prices.
I think you need Laird in the back line as well. I like the Treloar pick, doesn't seem that popular this year so far

Okay it is official, i must be an idiot, how are you guys posting your teams??
Every computer is a bit different but if you're using a computer that runs on Window's press the "PrtSc" button on your keyboard (you may need to hit the "ALT" button at the same time.) whilst your team is on the screen.

There's a few different ways of what to do from here but I open Microsoft Paint and right click to "paste" it, save the photo from there and then hit the "upload a file" when you post in the thread.

First draft of my team. Feel a bit naked without Danger and Merrett.

First draft to give you guys an idea. I am not a huge fan of the forward line, I had wingard in there over Buddy for most of the time, so might switch that. Not sold on Petracca...
Petracca is right up the top of my watchlist, is priced really well and it looks primed for a breakout season.

My issue with him is that he'll spend to much time in the forwardline again and he's not going to average that good of a score playing predominantly up forward. It'll be very interesting to see where he plays in the pre-season comp and to hear what Simon Goodwin says about his positioning.

Continues to train with the midfield group this preseason acc to Melbourne and Goodwin

I'll pass on Petracca and the Demons in general, although Gawn is stapled to my R1 position.

Is anyone else tempted to skip titch and danger for a few rounds while their breakevens are high and get them round 3 or 4??
You'd need to keep a bit of a kitty for that... i tried to play it that way last year and the wheels fell off the strategy when i hit a few injury potholes.
I eventually got titch with about 6 rounds to go.
