Just wondering, when does the full fixture is due to get released? I would like to know as i am coming uo for the Games next year and have the middle weekend free of the vic sports holiday. if the afl uses the policy of home, away, home then that weekend we will be playing a home game which hopefully is in Brisbane.

The AFL may have control of the 2018 fixture but it doesn’t control the weather. Let’s hope a Cat 5 doesn’t interfere with game.

It won't be like that. Most probably three 'away' home games (Cairns, Freo & China), six away games (one @ Gabba) and a bye first 10 rounds, then eight games @ Metricon and five away games rounds 11 - 23.

I cant believe you guys give up your home game for that mob.
You realise our whole home game season is compromised anyway next year (Commonwealth games)? may as well get some financial benefit for something thats f**ked anyway...

Agree also the fact that if you're going to do something as big as playing in China you at least gotta do it more than once.
I do not get why we can’t play every home game After Metricon becomes available again.
Go to the footy every weekend for 11 home games in a row....hell yeah!
The Club sent me some dribble about player welfare but what a load of crap.
There’s no difference from a welfare point of view between playing games in Nth Qld and Sydney/Melbourne/Adelaide of between Shanghai and Perth.
Club is feeding the people of the Gold Coast garbage.
Between this and the Weller debacle I’m starting to have massive doubts about the Messiah Evans, it may well be that the messiah is just another naughty boy.

The AFL are making the decisions Bods, Evans is their boy & on the positive I think/hope/trust he is the man to deliver for you long term, because you keep getting shafted as is, 2018 surely as bad as it gets - trust Coch0 hangs tough on your home strip.
Yes but isnt Gabba available for you home games early and then Metricon is available again from mid season. If my club gave up a home game I would spew

A home game at the Gabba, may as well be in China for a lot of people.
Just over an hour bus ride isnt it. Not that far. At least you still get to see your club play. So do you only get 10 home games now. Or can you use one for the Brisbane home game.
Trust me I’ve been doing that since the day it was first floated in the media and been expressing my disgust periodically at the club ever since

As someone who lives in Brisbane, I wish they played more games up here! Metricon is a nicer stadium though, just further away for me.
Personally, I hate the Gabba and am glad we are playing minimal games there. It really makes our lack of crowd drawing in Brisbane obvious when we play in front of an empty Gabba.
Boddsy, I want to agree with you, and I think it's great there are so many different opinions on this. But I believe it's closed minded to think so locally. Northern Queensland is part of our zone so visiting Cairns is fantastic, China is an opportunity we couldn't pass up last year, and this year it's more necessity. Instead of complaining about all the decisions, we could take the chance to embrace them. 2018 was always going to be difficult fixture wise but that was known before we began at metricon. Without the games we probably wouldn't have metricon in its state. Potentially no sun's period without the games.
