The issue I have is that if you look at the list ,we have multiple forwards still yet to develop, how many do we need?
We are desperate for an engine room and our best player is ageing or if no improvement next year, could leave.
The mids who will fall at 4 will be rated. The problem this draft is not talent but who to take. All of the kids in the top 10 are good enough.....it seems.
Who knows, even I am told directly from the coach of the King boys, that they are freaks yet, who knows if they make it at AFL. We have already seen this happen, ala Boyd and Paddy.
We have all seen who our club has chosen as best available too and that doesn't seem to have worked thus far.
If we are to take a player in this draft, my preference is a mid, we all have our opinions and I guess only time will tell.

Also looks like we get Biggy Nyuon from the academy as a forward ruck next year. We are going to be very tall.

I just find it slightly odd Wingard is on the market. Is it because he thinks (or his Manager thinks) he's worth a lot more money? Or there is some problem with him? He can be a gun, but can also have his quiet games. Seems there might be more to this....

Edit......Just had a quick scan of the Port board. Not happy in there. Seems Wingard doesn't train hard enough and his attitude is criticised by the club. They probably sent him off to look around to shake him up. But the Port fans don't want to lose him. Two high First Round picks I don't think is going to happen. Hawks the tip, but how are they going to do that? Intriguing.

Money expectation.
Apparently he set a target of x million and no club that enquired was willing to pay it including st kilda. So he said he is going to stay, could be a bargaining tactic and not sure what it does with his relationship with port.

If we did something like that, I don't think that we'd have to give Sydney pick 18, I think they'd do it for pick 39 - given the salary relief alone, that would be a good deal both ways.

I'd also prefer to give Collingwood Paddy over Bruce, I've got a feeling in my waters he's going to be very good in 2019!

I hope he’s taking 18 to save us from ourselves. Losing Bruce would be dumb management.

To me trade period has become an endurance sport where you just hope we don’t self inflict to much pain. It’s like hoping your drunk gambling addicted partner gets home from the pub with pokies with some rent money left.

Surely we go after Rankine with pick 4 and not Max King! We need some star power with pace and good skills. Not another Tall forward who’ll take 5 years to develop.

I’ve come around to King. I don’t like thinking past the current day, but in this case I had to. We’re not contending for a few years. If King is half as good as what they say - he’ll be a star. We’ll be bottom 4 next year, take the best mid with that pick, try again for free agent. Coff & Clark should be coming on. We’ll have a different coach that can develop these kids.

Rankine will be an elite talent. The risk of him going home I think is too great. The risk of not harnessing his talent is also too great.
