2nds 2018 Stand Alone VFL - Inaugural season over. Time for reviews.

Seems we were too tall on paper but even our smalls didn’t want to be out there.

Conditions or not to not kick a goal screams major issues.
Easy to know why no one gets a game now.
The work rate just isn’t there.
You can not win the footy I can understand but to be outworked without it is pathetic.
Oh well

Melbourne have much more established and experienced afl players, particularly in the midfield, their vfl players are in red hot form and they’ve had the rub of the green at crucial moments.

McKay has shown a lot, as has Murphy, LDU, Williams and Preuss.

It's pretty disappointing not to kick a single goal, no matter how you paint it. Especially when there should be a handful of blokes with a half claim to getting into the 22 who should be trying to kill it at the level.

Long term the VFL team is absolutely fantastic for our development. Short term it's going to be really mixed because of all the new personnel on and off the field.

Preuss was very good. Not one other listed player did much of anything worth noting.

Murphy was ok and there were signs from Xerri. Williams our best early.

O, don’t get me wrong, it was a shitful display by most, up there with the Essendon and Richmond thrashings, it’s just there are positives to glem out of shameful displays, which is what you have to do at this level. We’ve relying on first and second year players to go against seasoned vfl and afl players. We don’t have the older depth as we cleaned it out and we lack midfield depth atm.

Hardest 2 hours of his life, trying to run and stand still at the same time. An absolute world away from anything he has experienced before, but thats why he's on the big bucks. Living the dream isn't always about the flat deck of an indoor stadium.

Yeah he was and will be a good footballer in time, Xerri is another that I think will develop nicely, I meant as a stand out in todays game. Preuss dominated and LDU did look very good at times in trying conditions.
