To be fair.. barlow is playing with half a team of 17yr olds.
If Barlow was on the bottom of a pack.. and had no one to get it out to..
which could if been the case..

That would be a turnover.

If it was the AFL he’d have players hitting the right spots aroubd stoppages to get it out to.

Can only be asgood as the weakest link as a team.

yeh look, we can make all the excuses we want, but here are the facts.

he had 3 clearances.

if he's at the bottom of packs all day feeding the ball (albeit to apparently noone, according to your theory) he should have a hell of a lot more clearances than that.

4 clearances for Hanley

6 clearances for Lonergan

7 clearances for Fiorini.

Barlow is cooked mate. He can get his hands on it but after that its all downhill. Im sure he'll prob get promoted at some stage, perhaps even next week, but it's not doing any good for your footy club moving forward. All i keep hearing as the reason why Brodie hasn't been getting games is because an inside midfield of Lyons, Swallow, Brodie etc is too slow. Yet Barlow apparently should be getting games? That isn't right.

Keep playing Brodie and move forward.

Quite frankly I'll take the suns word as opposed to some fluff in the press conference. There are a couple of posters here who do have information from the inner sanctum. Sunny is one of Those posters who if they say something you can generally bank as fact
I’m so confused. I always thought from early days posting on the Suns Board that Sunny was a girl from Canada. That’s not to say girls or Canadians no nothing about football as Sunny is usually very good with her intel and opinions but I’d love to know who the report about Barlow’s useless 44 possessions came from? 44 possessions in any game is a bloody good effort.

Looking forward to watching the replay.

Based on some of the strong comments on this thread, sounds like there will be a few others who watch it.

If I watch it, am I allowed to have a negative opinion of a Suns player?

PS.
Got to be honest, this board used to be more fun.
Would be great if posters could disagree with humour and civility. It probably does take more effort but is a lot lot lot lot more fun to read. And probably a lot more fun to write.

So you watched the game.
Makes no difference whether he watched or not, mate. ''Footylover", an Essendon fan, gets off hating on Barlow, who's been injured or playing NEAFL all year.
Like with 13 consecutive losses from the senior team there's no other more worthy recipients of his acid tongue:rolleyes:

That was many moons ago, TSG! I've been in SE Queensland now for several years.

Must have been thrilling for some of our young guys lining up on Brett Deledio

from the Suns website wrap of the game:

A Michael Barlow masterclass inspired Gold Coast to a two-point victory over the GWS Giants at Spotless Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Looks like we had three extras on the field too. Combined with the Giants terrible accuracy in front of goals looks like we were lucky to escape here.

When i heard 45 touches for Barlow i kinda thought there'd be more to show for it than 3 clearances, 3 Inside 50s, and 5 Rebound 50s - that accounts for 11 touches. i wonder what he did with the other 34?

No doubt got the ball to some the kids in the team who would've otherwise not got a possession at all.

I'm no expert Stormie and I didn't see the game ... but isn't a fair chunk of the game played outside of the 50m zone?

Nice to see suns "supporters" ripping into our own players for having 45 possies in winning team. Stay classy Gold Coast.

I haven’t offered an opinion as I didn’t see the game but “thumbs down” for your effort. People can have an opinion and it doesn’t mean they are classless humans if you don’t like it.

I watched the YouTube replay , Barlow kick as always a problem , but his handball in tight are still very good , do I want him to get promoted to senior side this week ,I will said No against Sydney but he is definitely in contention vs Carlton especially in Metricon to help win first home game this season , as for people who said he is rubbish ,please go and watched the replay , to get 8 vote from coaches and umpires are no way near rubbish.

Just my opinion but if I was picking the team Barlow would be one of the first players I pick every week.
He's got the on field leadership we are missing and brings other players into the game

Without going back through the thread I don't recall many possibly any using the word rubbish... I certainly was critical but for leadership purposes would want him at the club in some capacity. But if anybody is calling him rubbish they're kidding themselves .

44 disposal of trash is what I read , without going into more controversial , I hope my interpretation of trash = rubbish is not wrong .

trash
traʃ/
noun
  1. 1.
    NORTH AMERICAN
    waste material; refuse.
"the subway entrance was blocked with trash"
    synonyms: rubbish, waste, waste material, refuse, litter, garbage, debris, junk, dross, detritus, sweepings, dregs, remains;
    vulgar slangcrap
"the subway entrance was blocked with trash"

Certainly the review I got of his game doesn't match with what I saw in the replay. I thought his kicks were bad but he did plenty of good things.
Calling Mick's performance 45 possie game ''trash" angered me at the time. This is a guy who's done it tough and just come back from serious injury via a kick to the face and complications arising. That said, I'm happy to move on - especially since vindicated by the MVP votes! :)
