Word of warning
The GC Rugby League teams especially the early ones the Giants and Seagulls did a lot of bringing in blokes close to retirement and it was a failure

I strongly believe both clubs need to develop its stars from the ground up

Difference between the two codes was the rugby league teams had to develop there juniors and didn’t have the luxury of drafting quality young players hence buying old washed up players. It’s the same reason why the titans are struggling now they have no local juniors. Suns have the quality juniors just lack the leadership of older heads

Idiot Gillon has already said this week that he is strongly against Suns getting extra salary cap. It would be against his great equalisation scheme.
Where'd he say this? I must've missed it.

James Brayshaw IQ = 4
I will try to find it. I believe it was in one of his interviews on Coniglio.
Here you go guys think this is the interview you are talking about.
The first 5 minutes or so is all about the suns (the question about extra salary cap is at 3:05 minutes)

Purely self-interest. There is absolutely no guarantee that the player picked at pick 2 for example will be any better than the next 10 picks. I bet the Eagles were spewing in 2001 when St. Kilda got a priority pick at #2 and picked Luke Ball, with their pick pushed back to #3 (actually another PP) and they were left with Chris Judd.
So if it's no big deal, you should be fine with an end of first round selection then? Or does it matter if it's pick 2 now?

Titans have no juniors?? R u off your head?
Wow. Just Wow.

Cripps signs a massive deal with Nike

The same Nike that sponsor the Bloos and I bet none of it is in the salary cap, the salary cap is a joke

That’s one thing that really annoys me there’s so much more money to be made off field in Melbourne which is a draw for a lot of players doing sportsman nights and in store signing sessions plus other sponsorship and media options also players are given stuff like cars as ambassadors for certain car yards and also other things like what was seen with Adam treloar his partner received a good job with McGuire media

And that’s why player managers always want there players playing for Melbourne clubs Because they get 20% of every single off-field deal.

So think of it like this Cripps new deal with Nike is reported to be a lifetime deal (his playing career) worth 6 figures a year his manager get 20% a year

Yep, great equalisation. Interestingly, Gil has no problem with it. The whole AFL is a joke.

No SPP can stay in Adelaide, he is not the sort of person we need with his off field issues
Actually reminds me a bit of Mitch Robinson who also was considered damaged goods before going to Brisbane
Benchmark Hodgey is a convicted drink driver #justsayin'
We need some mongrel
Maybe he could infect 2MP with it

Get all 5, midfield starts looking like an AFL level midfield. Haha love the optimism though.
I’d happily take Greenwood, H.Cunningham, S.Powell-Pepper and Burgoyne.
SPP would give us some mongrel...

B.Ellis is too soft for mine, and I think playing in a top 8 side makes him look better than he really is 🤷‍♂️

And we need to recruit a good speedy back pocket... Harby getting old and Joyce going backwards.

Well...Dale Thomas WANTS to play in 2020,32 disposals last week against Richmond and has played 18 Games this year!?
I was impressed by the hard running of Daisy Thomas, when we played Carlton. A couple of times he ran the length of the field & our blokes dropped off in their chasing, so he got involved several times in the same chain of play. Our players should be shown how hard he worked & challenged to compete at that level themselves. As for recruiting him, I'm not so keen. I'm not sure he'd be coming for the right reasons. My impression is he'd be just wanting to help himself, not help the Suns.

I like your angle. I would say there is the odd player who has slipped through the recruiters judgement gauntlet.
But as far as a priority pick goes, it would be assumed, that if the team appears to require a pick 2 then the afl would issue that pick, if they thought a pick 5-10 would be enough to fix the issues, they would run with that and so on, so it’s irrelevant what we think, as the AFL will have the final decision.
Me personally, pick 1 should be good and throw in some cap space and extra players. If you don’t like my comment, don’t write baiting comments in another teams thread. :thumbsu:

Haha these crows supporters are like a dog with a bone.

At the end of the day the commission with make the PP decision based on the good of the AFL as a whole. The integrity of future picks is small potatoes based on small minded men motivated by self-interest.

2 first rounders, a couple of academy kids, and natural improvement in our 1st-4th year players:

Rowell
Lukocius
King
Rankine
Powel
Ballard
Ainsworth
Bowes
Brodie

We now are stable in our training facilities, head coach, chairman, CEO, list manager and im confident in our high performance team. We don't need a priority pick at all, just a couple of veterans and a preseason.

Things are gonna move quick next year, so we might as well ask for concessions now, but there are 9 top shelf talents there, 21 years old and under.

Witts
Swallow
Martin
Weller
Sexton
Fiorini
Day
Thompson
Collins
Harbrow
Miller
Wright
Ah Chee
Lemmens
Holman
Macpherson

Makes it 25 genuine afl quality players

Corbett
Hanley
Miles
Young
Hombsch
Nicholls
Joyce

We need to add a few more players of these guys elk, this year and we'll be set.

I see Brandon Ellis turns the ball over a lot don’t we have enough ball turnover players

He is probably what the team needs we have a team of nice guys need someone with a bit of mongrel.. his off field stuff sounds like just young and dumb stuff get him living with mark evans or harbrow mature him up a bit

Couldn't agree more. We seem to have this misguided idea that only good boys win premierships! Look at who we have let go because they didn't fit club culture etc - all except Harley are playing with other teams every week. The ingredient missing right now is pure plain mongrel and it's badly needed. Let's see how we go against Roughie's mob today as an example.

Greenwood for grunt - Burgoyne for experience down back and although I don't really like him - SPP for the bite! Ellis is a pass as is Cunningham. Lots more will emerge over the next month or so.
