2019 Draft

Reckon we're just sitting back watching this all unfold and realising that with 4 picks inside the top 40 we don't have to jump in to bed with just anyone, we can wait it out and see how the draft unfolds and then swoop in or take what comes.
Yep, also if we resist the urge to trade our 2020 1st round pick it could put us in a strong position next trade period.

Given the lots of clubs will need points next year, we could simply offer our current 1st round for overs in the 2021 Draft.

Dockers have shot themselves in the foot as their remaining picks now only equal pick 36 in points value so when Carlton or even Melbourne bid on Henry at 9 or 10 they are going to be in strife and requiring points the equivalent of a pick around 14-16.

If I was them I'd be trading pick 7 or 8 to Geelong or Gold Coast to try and get 2 picks back either 17 & 24 or 15 & 20

GWS and Freo don't care about having a large points deficit next year as they have good academy kids again. They just load up on later picks and grab academy kids for free again.

AFL has stuffed up again with these academies. They are not equal which enables some clubs to take the pee now.

The academies need to go or the 1st 2 rounds of the draft uncompromised. That means if an academy kid from anywhere is good enough to be in the top 36 picks then anyone can draft them.

Dockers got the Dees 2020 R2 pick in but have traded out their R3 & R4, so next year only have their R1, R2 & Dees R2 pick in the 2020 draft. They are going to have to trade out some good players to get some decent picks back in next year.

Don't know about that.....they now have the ability to get 2 x players inside 8 and cover the bid for Henry. Smart move IMO

Dockers remaining points equal pick 36, which means deficit for next year when they have another NGA kid to pick up

I'm liking how the Tigers are keeping their 'powder dry' this year and next in regards to picks and trading in players. Gives us a lot of flexibility.

We are currently ranked at 9 with the DVI, and there's 10 teams that currently can't trade any of their future picks. To be ranked at 9 after winning the Premiership is a mighty fine achievement.

The more I think about it the more I'm pissed off that the AFL duded us on the B.Ellis compo. Should be an early 2nd rounder.
Thanks to D. Barrett. Whingingest little squealer spat the dummy out of his cot and an afl employee too. As an afl employee he should be gagged from comments regarding compo for free agents. Of course the afl said the deal "just didn't quite qualify" ?!?! Based on what exactly? Not based on previous compo, based on the squealing from the piggies...

No one at the AFL gives a shite what this piece of crap says. He was just tasked with spreading the Geeloling mafias propaganda to make it seem a reasonable decision to all non Richmond supporters

Yes. We need better depth in tall defenders. This is the perfect year to get 1 more tall KPD. CJ/Chol look like tall fwds. Jury is out on Miller, Garth. & Balta's position, right now he looks best as a ruck/wing. So getting a couple more KPDs ( I think we lost our VFL tall defender) I don't any of the draftees but deKoning is real tall. We won't be debating his height like we did with Garth. Worrell. Is 195. Good, but Gould is only 191. Not tall enough to play KPD.

Take a good look at Hilder

My opinion for who we like at #19 that's around our pick.
1. Will Day
2. Trent Rivers
3. Trent Bianco
4. Cooper Stephens

Interesting listening to the Draft Central podcast (well, a little bit). They had our 19 slipping to 22 after bids and pick trades prior.

Well considering that Freo,GWS & Hawks will all avoid bids on their kids it looks about correct

Im hoping there will be surprises and it doesnt go to their mock draft order

I think we want those first 3 also but in different order.... However, if all 3 are gone, I'm still ok with taking a punt on Will Gould.

Our list is in great shape and we can take the punt on him. If we get him in the right environment, he could be a steal and will form a formidable partnership with Balta for 10 years.

we don’t have pick 19 anymore. It’s now pick 21 and maybe 22

GWS and Freo will both get extra picks in front of us now via matching bids and Hawks might also.

It was a 'soft leak' by the AFL to condition the public that the Tigers were going to get screwed, in regards to ellis compensation. Before the official announcement.

Barrett is on the afl payroll*, essentially the mouthpiece.

no doubt Ellis was a first rounder via their own systems and rules (500k contract at richmond apparently! plus a new 500+k long term deal...) which they keep obscure to allow manipulation when they dont want teams winning two flags and a minor premiership in three years - and then having two high draft picks. 100k members is enough, they prefer the cyclical system to dynasty's

oh well their cheating will make the next grand final win all the sweeter

* Barrett is paid by AFL media which is essentially the AFL
