My only real gripe: I don't understand why there are so many tickets for corporates.
We know there is a HUGE demand for tickets (members of the public willing to splash ~$5k for a ticket at time) and I understand that they need the money from corporates and advertising and blah blah blah...

So why not fix the problem:

Less corporate tickets at a higher cost.

Simple. No cutting into MCC or AFL members, corporate ticketing should be for the elite anyway so why not just bump the price and offer less... make it more exclusive. That way we don't end up with every campaigner and his dog with a good network lucking out on a ticket to whatever GF he pleases thanks to "work" or "the boss".

Is the live site free because I can't find a cost for it?

Also, can you get a live site ticket if you already used your barcode for a GF ticket? I have a family member who couldn't get GF tickets but wants to go to the live site.
I thought I saw somewhere it's $20 but not sure.
I'll be giving my barcode to a family member to use for live site and have a GF ticket. Can't imagine they'd bother cross checking them.
I just rang Richmond and anyone who has a GF ticket cannot use their membership barcode to get others into the live site ( just broke the bad news to my daughter )

Also they are reducing the numbers for who can go, will be less than 2017 as they feel that was too many people.

I'm another who has missed in the ballot (second time in a row for gold).
Here's hoping there's a decent number flip across from GWS. Having said that, I do not begrudge GWS or its allocation. The club earned its share of those tickets and should have the right to allocate them as it sees fit.
It's not GWS's fault the AFL has its priorities wrong.

Thanks for the info. Ticketmaster has a limit of 8 per transaction - do we know if members can buy 8 with one barcode?

I was wondering about that... wonder how they're policing that? GR Tickets sold through Ticketek and the Live sold through Ticketmaster.
Unless RFC are supplying Ticketmaster with valid (ie: unused) barcodes

Just bumped into a 93 year old woman in Ticketek, on the phone trying to call Benny Gale cos she’d been a Richmond member for 44 years and was allocated seats for the GF in the very back row of the MCG where she would not be able to see

No pleasing some people seriously

I'm sitting in Row DD of the Ponsford... I'm stoked, the main thing is that I'm there after missing out in 2017.

When you go to the ticket office to pick up the ticket, ask them to upgrade the ticket to an adult and pay the difference. I did this in 2017 for a friend. No issues at all.

Thanks mate!! Much appreciated

IMHO the MCG needs to install a form of rail seating. This is seating that can be locked away and form standing areas. Each row has a sturdy barrier preventing patrons from spilling in to the next row, and the number of patrons is limited. For something like the GF they could possibly convert the back +/-10 rows of the MCG lower decks to standing and increase capacity by a few thousand.

Is quite common in European stadiums.

I'm literally back row of Olympic stand based on my Maurice Rioli membership, which is cat 5. Way back but on wing and just happy to be there.

Only found out my seat by logging on ticketek. No email yet. Has everyone else got emails?

SECONDARY GRAND FINAL TICKET SALE
Eligible Club members who were unsuccessful in the ballot or did not register may have the opportunity in a potential secondary on-sale, should there be remaining tickets at the completion of the GIANTS on-sale.

The secondary on-sale is open to eligible Club members on Tuesday, September 24 via Ticketek here.
Please note - Strictly pending ticket availability.

The on-sale times are:

11am-1pm: Any unsuccessful ballot Richmond members (those who registered but missed out on a ticket)

12pm-1pm: Any remaining eligible Richmond members in Priority Groups 1-3 who did not register in the ballot

Priority 1:
2019 Premiership Circle - Great Southern Stand, Ponsford, Olympic (excluding Premiership Circle Provisional members), Maurice Rioli Club (Provisional, Tier 2, Tier 1) 3121, Club XI and Yellow & Black members.

Priority 2:
All Platinum 25-49 years consecutive members

Priority 3:
All Gold 10-24 years consecutive members

Please note, this is not a ballot system and will work as a normal on-sale via Ticketek. To have the best chance in securing ticket/s, eligible Club members will need:

1. Your Ticketek login details
2. Your 12-digit membership barcode (found on the back of your membership card). If you are purchasing for friends and family, please have their 12-digit barcode number ready too.

Members wishing to sit together must register their group in one transaction using one credit card. There is a maximum of 8 tickets per transaction.

Availability of tickets, including the category, is solely dependent on the tickets remaining from the GIANTS member allocation. For access to secure a Grand Final ticket, you must visit ticketek.com.au or call Ticketek on 1300 796 939 between 11am-1pm AEST, Tuesday September 24. Under no circumstance are tickets sold through the Club.

Please note, there are no junior ticket prices available for the 2019 AFL Grand Final. If you wish to buy a ticket for a junior, please buy a concession ticket.

Tickets will be allocated via ballot on a next best available basis, and therefore members can receive a Category 1-7 Reserved Seat, Restricted View seat or Standing Room ticket.

I got an email last night from ticketek detailing my seat and also pick up information.

Same re MRC- some priority 3 people were posting Cat 4 and I Got Cat 5.
Now with the re sale of GWS tix people will get even better seats.
Dont want to sound entitled given plenty would do anything to go, but when you pay a lot to get GF ticket access it's not great to see.

In Europe and UK the crowds are segregated. If you do what you are suggesting here, we'll end up with more crowd violence. Similar to what we had in the 1970s at our suburban grounds.
It's not going to happen.
Standing room areas have been kept small deliberately to prevent crowd surge. The larger standing areas promote a crushing effect. It is no coincidence that the UK has reduced standing to counter this effect. I lived in the U.K in 79/80 and followed Arsenal. If you were at the front of the North terrace when a goal was scored you could have your ribs broken against the fence as the crowd surged. The MCG Will not increase standing. Plus standing areas are predominantly the domain of men and thus this would also be seen as sexist.

boys and gals, how do you go about upgrading a concession ticket to an adult ticket?
You can do it at the ticket collection box outside the ground on Saturday.
Did that in 2017 with captain blood 17 I had a seat near him so we traded my ticket with his sons who was in a different stand and he paid to upgrade it from concession to adult.

Okay, I just spoke to the club and they have said that as long as you were unsuccessful in the ballot, you will be able to purchase tomorrow if any tix are available. It seems that you can also give your barcode to anyone to purchase as long as they have your barcode. Only the numbers on that unsuccessful list will get access at 11am (if any tickets are available).

I will make love to a cheese grater if this is true*

*will not actually make love to a cheese grater, but will kiss it with tongue
**having re-read, it's not a guarantee we WILL get a ticket. Cheese grater action looking less likely
