Bennell fits us perfectly.

Outside class, can impact forward. He'll come for free, but we have the cap space to make the money at least somewhat worthwhile. He'll be under direction and supervision of the best medical staff in the league.

He is the classic low risk, high reward pick.

How many AFL players have had 38 touch, 4 goal games in their career? s**t, even 27 touches 6 goals 3 behinds.
I would think there’s some boxes that need to be ticked before we get too keen on him.

His calf surgeries reportedly went well, but we’d want to really know that it’s all behind him.

I like that we’re interested, but I will wait to see what eventuates.

I hope we pull the trigger. Cant see how we lose, only upside I believe

Absolute elite talent, wanted him for years but he looks well and truly cooked and aside from the injuries the obvious worry is culturally.

The guy has had some serious issues so you have to ask yourself... Would he be a positive influence on the group? Especially the kids etc.

I trust the club will do their homework though so if the move goes ahead their is potentially huge upside.

Not like we dont have salary cap to pay him as a senior.
If its only a year, more money to throw at a future Gillionaire Ambassador next year ,if it works out we get a great player for longer

that's true if he willing to accept a lower wage can't afford to pay a bloke 450+ if he not on the park,
depending on our situation what F.A we go after

So Nick Dal Santo says we have 60 000 members and most of top 10 in the B&F are passed their best footy!
He’s a clown, like a large percentage of ex-players who find their way into the media.

Dal Santo may have missed this as well...

If we'd consider Bennell, why not Sam Murray?

Fewer (reported) indiscretions, could play Impey's role, gives a bit of zip of HB, ban ends before start of next year i believe, DFA.
He also fits the sensible 'buy low' model that we look to be implementing this off-season. If we can add Bennell and say Murray/Butler on the cheap to Patton and Frost, that would be outstanding business of improving the list without giving up much. No clear A graders but Bennell and Patton have high potential if fit.

It would be perfect if we could land a gun running mid for pick 11. Reckon our key needs are - key forward (Patton), key defender (Frost), outside class (Bennell? pick 11 trade for someone?), pressure forward (Butler?)

Poor disposer of the footy, 18 months out of the game. We don't want nor need for a similar player to Murray, if we did we'd simply give Miles games.

If we are targeting a player that can replace Impey next year, Jay Kennedy-Harris would be ideal. He plays the exact same role. Same age, same draft.
Shown far less ability to play at AFL level though.

Melbourne are shit at player development though. He’s a delisted free agent and wouldn’t cost anything. He can play that utility type role and more importantly he would improve our depth. It’s worth a shot.

After a promising 2014 he has struggled to play more than a handful of games per year. Must admit I don't see it. What role do you see him playing, or is it his versatility that you are seeing?
