Is that when they clashed after Cripps dished out the handball? Didn't think there was anything wrong with that, solid bump.

There was impact to the head, if Cripps was concussed it would have been two.

As a point of interest, can’t remember who or when, Bulldogs player running into the forward 50 is tackled from behind, clearly should have been holding / incorrect disposal, the ball spills free and McGovern picks it up and is tackled by Bailey Smith.
The tackle is a sling tackle with both arms pinned. By luck, McGovern does not hit his head. By luck, McGovern is not concussed.
Play continues and nothing is ever seen or heard again, this type of scenario is repeated countless times across the round.

It creates too grey an area to suspend players based on the result and not the action.

It should always be the action. If you throw a punch you get reported for that regardless of whether it lands. If it lands you get reported for hitting not for how long the guy is out cold. Etcetera.

Howe gets a 2k fine for his sling tackle that caused concussion but Setterfield gets 2 weeks?

Yep its the inconsistency in all things to do with umpiring and penalties that is so frustrating .
This one again imo was more an accident than anything but if they are to be consistent and apply a penalty on the ramifications of an action as is usually the case then Howe should've been banned .
In the AFL these days its the clubs that stamp their feet the most that are actually the ones that get their way .
We should have appealed Setterfields verdict and was quite shocked we didn't given what we've just viewed with Howe .

Exactly its how it actually use to be for a period of time .
I remember some players were banned for attempting to strike obviously that's possibly going a bit far but the goal posts seem to have shifted in recent years with regard to intent not being a major influence on a penalty anymore .

Which of course means some times a harsh penalty results from a guy being a bit of a dill and unlucky.
And conversely scumbags get off with nothing for a dirty act.

Surprised he copped a week, seemed a very innocuous incident - no remonstration, downfield free paid as after the kick, and no thread on Bigfooty when any Hawthorn report is usually front-page news. (This is the only post mentioning it I found so far).

What did Carlton posters think of the incident?

Graded Intentional (same as Dusty and Dangerfield off the ball hits) - any other grading would have been a fine.

If he was a bigger name it would've been just a fine imo, classic mrp

So an intentional elbow/arm to the head is OK if a downfield free kick is paid?

Ummmmm, OK...:drunk:
