Speaking Thursday, Raiders GM Mike Mayock declined comment on reports the team is considering suspending or even releasing Antonio Brown.
"Antonio Brown is not in the building today," Mayock said. "He’s not going to be practicing. I don't have any more information. When we do, I’ll get it to you. That’s it for today." The Raiders have much to consider before making a final decision on Brown. Suspending him would void the guarantees in his contract, which would then almost certainly set off an all-out war between the team and player. That's if they plan to keep him. Right now, the preponderance of evidence strongly suggests Brown will not be out there against the Broncos, though we might not get concrete word until Friday.

  • According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there are "those around the league" who believe the Raiders could look to void the $30.125 million Antonio Brown is owed in guaranteed money.
While the NFLPA has not been notified of any official suspension, word out of Oakland is that Brown will be facing discipline of some sort following an altercation with GM Mike Mayock (who fined AB for his unexcused absence from training camp), casting his Week 1 status in doubt. Now Schefter is hearing that the Raiders may take it a step further by voiding Brown's guarantees, which "obviously would end his time in Oakland." Brown's deteriorating relationship with the Raiders and Mayock in particular may be beyond repair. Tyrell Williams would be the biggest beneficiary of Brown's suspension (or his outright release), though his downfield leanings don't exactly mesh with Derek Carr's skill set.

The Raiders officially listed Antonio Brown's Thursday absence as "not injury related - conduct."
They could have gone with something more diplomatic like "not injury related," so it's the Raiders' first step toward slapping the "suspended" label on Brown. Although the Raiders are taking their time before publicly announcing anything, Brown's odds of suiting up for Week 1 appear slim at best. It is possible, if not probable, he never plays a down for the Raiders.

AB will get released, join the Patriots and become a model citizen on the way to winning a Lombardi SMH

Asif the Pats would touch him.

Perfect guy to pair with Flash o_O

theyve got a history of getting trouble makers to toe the line and play their best. Like Corey Dillon, Randy Moss, etc.

Maybe if he sits out for a bit, but in his current state he is a different breed and would not be worth the trouble for them at a position they are just fine at.
