Unfortunately Zach didn't do enough tonight. His marks will be wayyy down this year and he's not tackling either.

Joel Selwood on the other hand....does he get less attention with Danger spending more time in the mids? He looked so good tonight but you just know that he will get a few 50s and also he'll be knocked out on about 10 in one game which just kills your whole week. You considering him Shadow89 ? Similar price to Duncan but has a way better role I think. Duncan was a bit invisible tonight but as usual got his cheap marks, think Selwood averages more though.

Man i ventured over to the Supercoach board because they seem to have a more active forum (although we are going okay this year) and thought more viewpopints may be helfpul (despite the different game) and wow.. they['re an odd bunch. Imagine liking a game that you can't even tell what scores the players get in a JLT game. Madness.

not sure I completely agree on Zach.
Sure would have been better to see him come out with a doubtless 110.
He clearly improved on last week so could be argued he's building into it after missing those weeks and another 2 weeks under his belt pre rd 1 and he will be a lot better again. Also as part of that im not sure he was belting in, just getting a run into his legs and 59% TOG supports that.

70 from 59% TOG is probably equivalent to a 95-100.
I missed the 1st qtr but sounded like he hardly touched it, would be interested to see what his score and TOG was for that qtr as then his scoring from TOG after that is not at a bad rate

Certainly gone from lock to one to consider though which isn't a bad thing as going to create more variety in teams

Selwood had 60 last week from 52% TOG as well.

Don’t think he went on the field in the first qtr. then came out with 14 possies in the 2nd.

I was considering trading him pending tonight but I’ve seen enough to hold and think he will do very well

They seem to be quite a hostile bunch compared to us.

Its strange that Supercoach doesnt provide JLT scores since the AFL wont do it.

Selwood is my sneaky one and he's who I've been monitoring all pre-season. If he can cruise around and do what he wants, he'll rip games apart. Duncan as I've said before, is in there as a placeholder so I can see who I want around that mark, and at this point, Selwood is the go. Dangerfield will get tagged, but he'll break it and still get his 100-110. If Selwood plays on the wings and in the backline like he did tonight, he's in for a huge year.

Btw, he's missed not many games at all and been concussed only twice in his career. He's as reliable as they come, even though the media frame him in a different light

P.S. Parfitt is out as a lock, as it looks like our midfield will be a rotation of Danger, Kelly, Sel, Duncan, Narkle, Parf, Guthrie, Menegola, and Dahlhaus, Ablett and Constable (if he plays). The only lock in that midfield is Danger right now, as all the others are rotating everywhere. Selwood is going wherever he wants to go, which is exactly what we want. Still think Constable won't play round 1, despite how well he's going. Atkins and Clark will be the likely in's.

Btw, as some extra info for people looking to pick Geelong players, this is what our setup is looking like (with an obvious margin of error)

B: Bews, Blics, Stewart
HB: Tuohy, Taylor, Henry
C: Selwood, Parfitt, Duncan
FO: Stanley, Danger, Kelly
HF: Dahlhaus, Ratugolea, Ablett
F: Rohan, Hawkins, Atkins
INT: Clark, Menegola, Guthrie, Narkle

EMG: Henderson, Constable, Fort/Abbott/Smith, Scooter

Right now, Constable is first or second in line for a spot. He'll play at least 10 games this year, but not sure about Round 1. Parfitt displayed why I can't trust him at this point, as we're inundated with mids.

Dahlhaus is another sneaky one, as he'll play all 22 games if fit, and will tackle and get mid time.

Hope that helps everyone!

This is why I love our little community. Even when we have disagreements, the atmosphere that has been fostered is one that leaves rivalries at the door and just focuses on the fantasy aspect. Some of my favourite people on here are from clubs I absolutely despise (BJK#5 I'm looking at you, haha)

This is just my favourite place on big footy, as there's always rational and respectful discussion, and anyone that doesn't respect that, can just gagf, haha

Parfitt is gone for me too.

Dahlhaus looks great but Im wary with how much mid time he will get which may hurt his consistency. I think Menegola may suffer a bit from having Dahlhaus in the team.

Im really unsure about Atkins. He needs to score at least 60 to be an acceptable mid rookie. Some of the other mature rookies may be better choices.

I agree with Constable. He just wasnt given enough TOG to show they think he is best 22. He will definitely be in my team when he gets his shot tho.

Its crazy that you can fill your team with Geelong forwards and still have your team look decent.

Is it just me, or are we being trolled by AFL coaches this JLT?

No Kelly or Hopper. So no JLT for Kelly - can you pick him? And no clue on Taranto’s role with Kelly and Hopper (and Ward) in the side.

Goldy not playing game 2, so no clue as to how he’ll go against a ruckman. Can you pick him based on JLT1?

Preuss dropped, so no chance of seeing Gawn and him in action together before the season starts. Can you pick Gawn if both named round 1?

Harry Jones dropped. One of few promising def rooks. **** you Clarko.

He only came on in the second quarter. If you look at his score and TOG in isolation then it doesn't seem that bad. But it just feels like he isn't 100% fit to me. He snuck on in the second quarter and started on fire but then slowly faded out of the game. I had a feeling he wouldn't maintain his scoring in the second quarter as he kind of just racked up a lot of the ball as soon as he got on. I'm hoping he isn't 100% fit and will get better and better as the season progresses but it could be a more serious problem like a role change due to Shiel. I don't expect him to tackle like a beast in a JLT game but I expected some cheap marks at least. Bombers overall just seemed intent on quick ball movement through the midfield rather than chipping it to Zach.

Overall, I just think he is more likely to start the season with 80s rather than 120s so I won't really suffer from not starting him. There are better options around his price now, but I'll be the first to jump on if he starts the season well. You're right that there is still a lot of time before round 1 for Zerrett to come good but it's hard to ignore the form other mids have shown in JLT - like Taranto.

He scored 61 last week if that's helpful? Played 88% for that score, as opposed to 68% tonight. Looks like a 55-65 player, which is fine for a bench rook in the mids

Haha totally agree re. the forwards. Danger, Menegola, Kelly, Dahl, Parf, Narkle/Ratugolea/Rohan isn't terrible, haha

**** you Clarko indeed. That completely screws up my backline, haha. Ah well, to be expected

Yep Selwood in the backline, and the uncontested marks he got there, is what got me up and about. He can get completely tagged out of games when playing pure midfield. If he's allowed to roam to the backline then that would seriously inflate his scoring. Can just imagine him racking up marks late in quarters, young guys like Jordan Clark will just have to kick it to him. Wow this is seriously tempting

Great post. You’re right - there are much more compelling options as starters, so Merrett is now an upgrade target for me.
