Yep Selwood in the backline, and the uncontested marks he got there, is what got me up and about. He can get completely tagged out of games when playing pure midfield. If he's allowed to roam to the backline then that would seriously inflate his scoring. Can just imagine him racking up marks late in quarters, young guys like Jordan Clark will just have to kick it to him. Wow this is seriously tempting

I have been watching his role, and he's apparently transitioning into more of a 'bench coach' sort of role. Meaning that he plays on the wings and he directs plays/traffic as he's right next to the interchange and floats back when they need a balanced head in defence. This is definitely planned. Couple that with his intent, his demand for the ball and his ability to just get into the right spots, and I think this is his year. 154 off 79% game time is freakin' phenomenal in my eyes. He didn't even look like he was trying either, that's the amazing part

What you just described is probably the ideal fantasy role for a midfielder. I want him. Don't know how to get him in though. With Brouch at M4, Jelwood will have to replace Taranto at M3 and I need to somehow find the cash to do it. Or I let go of Gawn and do a complete restructure...again. FMD I'm just gonna wait until JLT is over before I touch my team again.

Unfortunately Zach didn't do enough tonight. His marks will be wayyy down this year and he's not tackling either.

Joel Selwood on the other hand....does he get less attention with Danger spending more time in the mids? He looked so good tonight but you just know that he will get a few 50s and also he'll be knocked out on about 10 in one game which just kills your whole week. You considering him Shadow89 ? Similar price to Duncan but has a way better role I think. Duncan was a bit invisible tonight but as usual got his cheap marks, think Selwood averages more though.
Will never be in my team: number one tag target and proven he can't handle it

You may rue that statement...Selwood won't get tagged if he's on the wings. Danger will be numero uno, and everyone will have Danger as a forward, so it won't hurt you when he gets tagged. Sel's ceiling and his ability is ridiculous if given the chance. I've watched him very closely, and his role is exactly what I want. When he demands the football, he gets it. He's floating around and playing wherever he deems it necessary (much akin to Bartel late in his career)

Man i ventured over to the Supercoach board because they seem to have a more active forum (although we are going okay this year) and thought more viewpopints may be helfpul (despite the different game) and wow.. they['re an odd bunch. Imagine liking a game that you can't even tell what scores the players get in a JLT game. Madness.
I think harder to do well, so a better challenge, but not the least bit enjoyable. Imagine going weeks without making a trade. No need to even look at your team during the week. But with rolling lockouts you can't take your eye off your teams over the weekend

If he looks like getting DPP my opinion will change but I prefer someone who won't be tagged. Zorko and Sloane are even bigger scorers than Selwood but as much as I like them, I'll give them a miss too

Again, careful with that train of thought, because Sel's highest scores are 178, 175 and 166. Zorko's highest scores are 181, 176 and 157. Sloane doesn't even enter the conversation with those two, as his highest ever score was 157 and that was huge for him.

Also, just an fyi, Sel has averaged over 90 for 11 out of his 12 years (100+ for 8 of his 12 years) with his only year of 85.5, being his first year. That's some pretty damn good consistency and reliability. Sloane and Zork haven't demonstrated that same level of consistency over the duration of their career as Sel has

I can't believe Brayshaw and Taranto are now 17% and 11% ownership respectively. That's up from 7% and 3% pre JLT. Tempting NOT to start at least one of them now. Libba and BCrouch have skyrocketed in ownership percentage too - they've doubled.

Still not overwhelming percentages, as the majority of people that will have imported those two in, are people that created their side from a reactionary state of mind. That means that the rest of their side could be reactionary as well, which we all know, is not how you want to approach Round 1 of fantasy

I'm feeling reactionary re Jelwood...:drunk: haha

Sam Collins played 120 minutes for his score of 65. I'll be watching him this week but I think he's expendable. Expensive if that is his output
Yeah, queationable JS too. Seems to be some competition for spots among tall defenders at GC. Easy swap to J Clark, Duursma or even Ridley for me so I think I’ll just leave it for now.

Still a little skepticle on Brouch. Here is his games played each year...
2013 - 14

2014 - 11
2015 - 0
2016 - 14
2017 - 17
2018 - 0
No doubt has the capabilities to average 100+ but **** me his durability is poor. Seems a given he will miss chunks and if it’s at the start of the season could really mess you up.

On the contrary, Luke Shuey (634k) and 2% ownership seems like a fantastic pick. Anybody else looked at or locked this in? No Gaff early on either.
I’ve considered Shuey. Is underpriced (about 8 points from memory) due to injury. Interrupted PS due to adductor issues is a red flag and history suggests his ceiling is about 100ppg though and I want more. If he smashes it early I might jump on, but he’s not a starter for me. Gaff won’t impact him - different roles.

Isaac Cumming - does he play? Only 2 games last year and rubbish scores, but priced at 9 points below what he averaged. Natural progression...? Same price as Scrimshaw, but Clarko can’t be trusted with young players so I’m not touching Scrim.

Edit: Cummings priced at 28ppg, TOG% last year was <60. For def eligible players that suited up in 2018, he presents the best value - i.e. lowest $ per normalized (converted to 100% TOG) ppg.

Cheers for the info appreciate it! 100 ppg is pretty tempting at his price. Since the ownership percentages updated Ive started tossing up between Taranto and Shuey (pod) and possibly similar outputs

I have Ridley in now too. 0.82 PPM priced at 41. I think he’s got very very good job security, makes it look nice back there.

Selwood is my sneaky one and he's who I've been monitoring all pre-season. If he can cruise around and do what he wants, he'll rip games apart. Duncan as I've said before, is in there as a placeholder so I can see who I want around that mark, and at this point, Selwood is the go. Dangerfield will get tagged, but he'll break it and still get his 100-110. If Selwood plays on the wings and in the backline like he did tonight, he's in for a huge year.

Btw, he's missed not many games at all and been concussed only twice in his career. He's as reliable as they come, even though the media frame him in a different light

P.S. Parfitt is out as a lock, as it looks like our midfield will be a rotation of Danger, Kelly, Sel, Duncan, Narkle, Parf, Guthrie, Menegola, and Dahlhaus, Ablett and Constable (if he plays). The only lock in that midfield is Danger right now, as all the others are rotating everywhere. Selwood is going wherever he wants to go, which is exactly what we want. Still think Constable won't play round 1, despite how well he's going. Atkins and Clark will be the likely in's.

Btw, as some extra info for people looking to pick Geelong players, this is what our setup is looking like (with an obvious margin of error)

B: Bews, Blics, Stewart
HB: Tuohy, Taylor, Henry
C: Selwood, Parfitt, Duncan
FO: Stanley, Danger, Kelly
HF: Dahlhaus, Ratugolea, Ablett
F: Rohan, Hawkins, Atkins
INT: Clark, Menegola, Guthrie, Narkle

EMG: Henderson, Constable, Fort/Abbott/Smith, Scooter

Right now, Constable is first or second in line for a spot. He'll play at least 10 games this year, but not sure about Round 1. Parfitt displayed why I can't trust him at this point, as we're inundated with mids.

Dahlhaus is another sneaky one, as he'll play all 22 games if fit, and will tackle and get mid time.

Hope that helps everyone!

Dude, you were pumping up Parfitt's tyres and even had him in your team. You deserve to have Parfitt in your team. Now you're off him and on to Dahlhaus? Mid-price madness!
