Was looking forward to having Roberton after his 52 in the first half, but can't take that risk with his heart.

Definitely see what your saying
54 from 54% TOG isn't bad though in a side comprehensively beaten, especially for a guy prices at 57.
Im interested to know if his game time was more managed in that 2nd quarter also.

As I said before too, 5 of their 1st 6 weeks their opponents aren't too strong so would be looking at him as a 6 week ride to hopefully then upgrade to a Laird before the Crows draw also opens up
His time was managed throughout the game. Played almost purely out of the backline. Can see the merit in him as a pick for sure

I just cant fit Macrae in ATM with the lack of rookie options presenting, he's now an upgrade target and hope it doesn't burn too much.
Allows for a bit more mid price madness.

I’m in the same boat. Going to be a long season for the both of us if he tears it up to start with

Think I'm in final draft mode.

Def: Laird, Lloyd, Whitfield, Williams, Clark, Hore (Watson, Burgess)
Mid: Macrae, Cripps, Neale, Rockliff, B Crouch, Liberatore, Walsh, Gibbons (Constable, Bewley)
Ruck: Grundy, Jacobs (Fort, Smith)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Henney, Elliot, Setterfield, Parker, Balta (Miers, Petrucelle)
73k Remaining.

He’s 305k. It’s not like it’s a big role risk 600-700k buy. I think at 305 he’s well worth a shot

I just can't see him averaging too much more than a 170k rookie so paying the extra 130k for marginally better job security doesn't quite make sense.
If you can see him going near 70 then he's good value.

Whilst it nearly makes me sick to have him in my forward line, he is going to average a lot more than a 170K rookie that isn't playing....

Okay so after everything i have said about him these past couple days somehow Rockliff has ended up in my team... FFS

Story time.

He has only ever screwed me over.

I pay top dollar for him? Injured.

I decide to not jump straight on after his injury and see how he returns? 180

I don't start him one year and he goes at around 120 for the first 8 or so weeks of the season before i finally bring him in? Injured that same game for under 100

I decide that he always returns with a bang and get him first week back after his injury? Barely crosses 100 for the rest of the season loses money and averages like 80 odd for me.

Tldr Rockliff is in my team which means he will 100% score poorly or get injured and i highly recommended you take this warning that i will break him.

I don't think we are that starved of rookie options in the forward line (backline we certainly are)

At the premium end there is Rankine, Lukosius, Rozee, King, Blakey and Setterfield (I'd ignore most of them except Setterfield for the same reason i'd stay away from McCarthy)

At the cheaper level we still have Parker, Drew, Balta, Petrucelle and Burgess that at this stage I'd say are safe for Round 1 onwards.
Lewis and Cavarra are also outside chances

Maybe I am just incredibly stubborn, but I'm sticking with Guns and Rookies this year

Just fyi Rankine did a hammy on the weekend by looks of it.

Agree with this sentiment though. Think once the real stuff starts, McCarthy will likely play forward pocket. Think Cameron is more likely to get stints in the middle over McCarthy even as he has shown how good he can be in there on occasions last year. I could be wrong though, my knowledge on Brissy isn't completely up to scratch

Yeah JLT hasn’t really solved many problems or doubts for me. Created a fair few more though.. Still think we’ve gotta keep it simple down back and in the middle. Take some risks up forward because everyone’s forward line is fairly screwed at the moment anyway. Think the only ones I’m taking with me are going to be Williams, Crouch and Taranto/Rocky. Can’t bring myself to start without at least 3 each of top line mids and backs.

Maybe it's just me, but you seem to be saying one thing and then providing evidence for the opposite thing.

I agree, that of the list of premiums you provide, only Setterfield is really an option.

Of the cheaper forwards, I already have Drew, Parker and Burgess, with Drew on the field.

Whilst McCarthy is not ideal, I don't want Balta or Petrucelle on the field (nor parker or burgess). If there was another obvious rookie, McCarthy would not be in my side.

Cavarra was the one I was hoping for, and I'm staggered that he could not get a game for a team that could not beat Gold Coast or St.Kilda.

All my on field rookies (besides Drew) are priced at Duursma and above, and based on JLT form I don't see what else you can do. I don't want to be scrambling for players with no cheap rookies before lockout.

I actually think we ARE starved of rookie options on all lines.

I agree with guns and rookies and I am desperately trying to stay away from complete mid-price madness by avoiding Liberatore/Cousins types and ensuring as many keepers as I can (currently 11). I don't think I'm going to be able to resist though, as I currently have Brodie Smith at D2 and Stinkin' Linkin' at F4.
