One more mod bashing post and this thread gets closed permanently.

Mods are unpaid volunteers volunteering their time to keep this place running smoothly. Try to respect that. Yeah, we dont always get things right, but most here are just trying to do whats best for everyone. Its impossible for mods to make everyone happy, and for every decision a mod makes, there is always going to be someone who disagrees.

Mate, I have been on this board since 2006. Let me ******* tell you, whatever you think we are, that's what we have copped since day one i popped up on this board. They can get f’ed. You know why we are like we are? Because of how we were treated. What, you reckon we were treated with respect? Courtesy? Empathy? They can eat a bag of ***** and choke on it. Ungracious has nothing to do with it. Opposition supporters acting like free range campaigners with no retribution has a lot to do with it. You reap what you sow. And man, they reaped for years.
I took some solid time off from bigfooty for a while in what was probably the first time since 2014.

I was probably a bit harsh towards Richmond supporters, but I double down on the fact that I don’t think we have been gracious in success as a supporter base regardless of whether it was more or less gracious than the likes of Hawthorn or Geelong. Graciousness in success may not be important to some of you guys, but it is important to me personally. I’m really not trying to patronise any of you at all, but it’s something that was drilled into me when I was younger and something that I attempt to uphold (and of course fail at sometimes) in all facets of my life. I get why it would be satisfying to rub it in other people’s faces if you copped it for years (I also copped it for years from non-Richmond supporters) but I personally try to go against that feeling or not overdo it if I do delve into it because at the end of the day, my happiness with Richmond winning is another person’s misery just like my misery watching Geelong kick the crap out of Richmond for years was their happiness.

I don’t know, I thought Richmond supporters out of all teams would not be the way the opposition fans were to us because we know how it feels like being piled upon but I guess I either don’t understand the average AFL fan (not only restricted to Richmond fans) as well as I thought I did, or I don’t relate to them as much as I thought. I also see it happening with some Brisbane and Port Adelaide fans who have already started beating their chests after being crap for so long.

I know it’s just a game, but I don’t know, it feels a little weird basking in their saltiness towards us. There is definitely a lot of salt out there, but it is still a weird feeling. Maybe I’m just not used to it following Richmond.

Look, if that’s how you guys enjoy Richmond’s success period, then I don’t think I’ll stand in your way. We all have different ways of enjoying things including success. I hear you and I get where you’re coming from and what the opposition supporters did to you guys for years as they did it to me too. Having said that though, it would’ve been nice to relate to my fellow Richmond supporters on Bigfooty and enjoy success in a more similar way.

Anyways, we have a game to play today!

Maybe you are overrating your self importance?

Yes it's nice for the players to be humble but the fans is hardly the same

Yes, I do overrate my self-importance. I realise that it’s actually one of my major flaws. I see the world from my own lens, which is probably why I’ll stop telling others how to support their club in times of success and times of failure.

I still don’t want to see it from that perspective though Marcel Proust. It’s nice for a fan to be humble too.

My comment came out a bit more crass than I was attempting. No hard feelings

No that’s OK! I don’t mind you making observations. It is an opinion forum after all

I was fortunate enough to be seated next a particularly ugly bay of geelong fans in the preliminary final.

Was carrying on like a complete pork chop after the game. Someone told me to be humble and it was really sobering and made me revaluate.

For about 5sec then back to the sheedy style scarf waving/dancing

Haha you probably remembered which club it was that Richmond just defeated to make the Grand Final

I understand what you are saying but where are the oppo supporters gracious in defeat. It’s rarely there.

Both premierships are constantly devalued by others - unfair home ground advantage, umpiring favouritism, stretch of home games, the FIXture, AFL HQ planned, drafting Lynch, tribunal favours, etc etc... along with you’ll be sh1t again soon enough.

**** the oppo campaigners , remember the “ where’s Trent “ thread after elimination final against Lolnorfff ?? Just have a read of the MB over the years , dumb campaigners 90% of them , lucky to get a decent poster in it.

This thread picks up every single tweet etc that is disparaging of Richmond. Every poll that is praiseworthy of a coach other than Dimma and makes it seem like there's a vendetta. Now I now there's some salty SA & WA people who go on about Vicbias. Personally I hated Geelong for the wood they had over us for a decade. But I never bitched about father/son luck, home ground advantage blah, blah. They were too good an organisation for us. Shoe is on the other foot We are beating all clubs fine. COVID kicks in, we all end up in Qld, M(etricon)CG!! We have COVID suspensions & injuries. We still win. We will win the whole thing. We did it plenty hard as a club and social media/football opinion writers Caro & Cornes are a pain. But a fact of life in 2020.

I've gotta say, I was way better behaved after 2017 than I thought I would be. I always thought prior to 2017 that if we ever won anther premiership in my lifetime I'd be a genuine diamond-encrusted drunken condescending a**ehole for at least 12 months afterwards. I'd be totally intolerable and wouldn't give two-thirds of FA about what anyone thought.

Turned out, I was just too happy after we won to be too bitter. That said, a number of old scores were definitely settled, and I'm loving the work of many posters in this and other Tiger Train threads.

I sat in the row immediately behind the geelong cheersquad in the Ponsford stand with my Melbourne-supporting brother. For some reason (not sure how), it was allocated as Richmond seats. Had a couple of young guys maybe 18-19 sitting next to us making absolute campaigners of themselves before the game even started, shouting out GET ****ED GEELONG and GEELONG EAT SHIT! I was like geez, going hard early guys but I love it! My brother was mortified and I was like well what did you ****ing expect dude? And when we we were losing I was questioning the umpiers sexual persuasions and accusing them of being ****ing cheats and my brother, who was always the punk of the family, was going "you can't say that anymore!" and I turned around and said well bro look where we are, who's gonna stop me?

And when we won I very graciously told the geelong cheersquad how to catch the V-line train back to Geelong until my voice went hoarse.

I don't really care how people behave at the footy (with the exception of violence of course), it's a game, support how youwant and take the good with the bad. It's been like that for over 100 years. There will always be obnoxious w***ers and there will always be cheese eating soft *****.

Main board melting about us being gifted by umps saying they never pay HTB against us hahhahhah
They're confused. They never pay HTB to us.

On Geelong fans, my brother and I sat in tje Medallion Club last year for their June premiership over us. Surrounded by Scats fans giving us heaps. I just laughed and said see you in September. (I didn't see them, cos I'm MCC, bit of a shame)

Tigers dropping and throwing the ball with impunity
If there’s one thing I want to see next season it is players being penalised for dropping the ball.
No such thing as htb if you are Richmond.
There are about as many legal v illegal disposals by hand in this game.
I don't want to believe they are blind or stupid so why do they not umpire to the rules?

It happens to often to be just a missed call, seems to me they are given some kind of directive.
Geez that was good, Grimes charged in like Captain America - Fogarty just pushed him away

Lucky Grimes didn’t jump back 10 metres
Surely the umpires know better than to listen to Jack Riewoldt. He thinks he deserves a free every contest.
Richmond being looked after. If Lynch had taken a proper shot and Martin wasn't gifted that oob mark Crows would be almost level. Admirable pressure and effort from the Camries, where's this been all year?
Mate, you are dropping and throwing the ball all over the shop and they aren’t being called.
How bad from Cotchin. Hits a bloke. He hits you back then you whinge to the umpire.
When will umpires wake up to the constant throwing by Richmond players?
Dusty loves to throw it.

Gets away with it because he is a darling of the comp.

Happens with most of the top players in the comp. Get away with a lot more.

Some pie flog having a full on meltdown throughout the whole thread
Yeah
Our games been hijacked to suit Murdoch
Umpires haven't a clue
Illegal disposal
Constant throwing as very few players display the correct technical skills
Games won and lost weekly by basic lack of understanding of the rules
Premierships not deserved due to incompetent officiating
No consistency

Only 1 team since this so called competition (event) started hasn't made a g/f
We adopt a NBA NFL drafting system without the ability to trade futures properly

So yeah
I'm angry
Who wouldn't be

Only a person who doesn't understand what footy could should and was would be rapt with this

Here's a thought what advantages me and disadvantages my opponent is a free kick
Your kidding
Reiwoldt always flys prematurely ,taking out the man before attempting to mark
Caddy does it Castagna does it , your backline all do it
Your mob throws it, blocks off the ball
Unrealistic marking and spoiling attempts
Every game
Your mob have actors equity cards and realistically have always got away with murder at tribunals
Quote captain blood

Then whinge because just maybe your not getting the rub of the green

How many goals from freekicks in last two seasons for lunch
As many as 8 years at the suns
Mate your the new hawthorn
AFL darlings in the event they pretend is a competition
Blocking dropping the ball throwing it
Unrealistic spoiling attempts and unrealistic marking attempts
Yeah getting looked after again

Here's a thought check out the free kicks for Lynch last two years
Check out jacks horse riding attempts then going for the mark

Watch out masons back in form

You're worst Knightmare
Could kick a bag

How many if he's looked after like the campaigner

In response to why pies are +60 Free kick differential
Yeah that's cause we put our heads over the ball

Looking forward to playing you pretenders without 6 out

Proper umpiring
Another example free kick against caddy
He blocked Kelly then 30 metres from the ball
Gee she's a good umpire
You want a list of people who have played the at the highest level and are freaking out at the state it's in
Delusional
If you think my opinion is a isolated one
Newman's been whinging for 30 years over this event
Williams don't watch
Scott don't watch
Modra
Keith Greig

And the games more important than the result

Guys can't handball

Guys can't kick both sides
Guys block
Guys impede
Stacks on

Its rubbish
But unfortunately it's the only show on town

Rules interpretation by people who have never played ,let alone understand what advantages or disadvantages anyone

More umpires worse it's getting

Salt bleeding from the eyes...
I think in retrospect this last few years will be looked at in a similar vein to the Hawks period of success.
A very good team and deserving winners, but having very few team ruining injuries and their closest competitors just not being up to snuff.

Also, I didn't think it possible, but some of the Richmond people in this thread are actually salty winners....
