Toby was drafted in 2014.

He is a 4th year player! Hence why Zaine cordy was also training.

My question is where was Bailey Dale and Caleb Daniel?? Are both coming back from injury?
He was drafted at end of 2014. 2015 he was a first year, 2016 2nd, 2017, 3rd, 2018 4th, 2019 he’s a 5th. Unless they mean Richards and Naughton are first year players then you’re correct. I didn’t see Zaine but I saw Roarke who was same draft but again, he’s got plenty to prove.

By your logic a first year player starting pre season now would need to be who we draft in 2 weeks. Not possible.

Who are the players in the top 2 pics?

By your logic we ignore the first pre season and season proper for all kids drafted to the club.

A season consists of a Pre Season and a Season Proper of 22 games and possible finals.
In two weeks time our first year players start this process just as Toby did late November 2014.

Could be a huge year for Bailey Williams.
I think he's become my favourite younger player... I had no awareness of how good he could be until the turning point this year when he wore a confident mullett to the 2018 press photos. Oh also I guess his steller season before injury helped too.

Fifth-year players Toby McLean, Zaine Cordy, Caleb Daniel and Roarke Smith were not required back at the club until later in the month, but have also been training strongly.

Confirmation, from AFL website.

By your logic the 3 state-league recruits the Suns added during the trade period that kicked off pre-season training are year 0 players.

Pre-season for year 1-4 players has started, we just haven’t drafted all of our year 1 players yet.

It’s pretty straightforward.

Things are looking up when the biggest shitfight on our board is the semantics over what a fourth year player is.

For the record the club's website (AFL media's Ryan Davidson) calls McLean a fifth year player:
