AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Yes but he got it more than seccell. I stood with his dad in the intraclub game and even he says that. He always struggles in those games because of the paceBarlow was too.
I think the problem is most of them are tired. That was their 8th game already this year. Ire madnessBilly will probably need a few more VFL games to get some match fitness, and so might a few of the other boys.
Barlow was too.
Are you serious? Their eighth game, and it was the opening round? That is ridiculous if true.I think the problem is most of them are tired. That was their 8th game already this year. Ire madness
It’s certainly true. Includes a few intraclubsAre you serious? Their eighth game, and it was the opening round? That is ridiculous if true.
We were thrashed by the other side. We had no tall forwards. It was windy as all ****. They looked like team who play and train together. To say we have no afl quality players is a bit silly. Young would walk into our senior team for starters.A neighbour saw last night's game and said Sandy were flat as a pancake and nobody near senior AFL selection quality.
Hit outs to advantage is what matters. Always has. If you can stick it down someone's throat, under the new setup they have a huge advantage. Now if your ruckmen can take marks and get around the ground gathering possessions like an old fashioned follower, you're set. It has ever been thus and always will be. The prosecution tenders exhibit A: Simon Madden, Peter Moore, Dean Cox, Brodie Grundy, Max Gawn, et al.More realistic. Really does need to mark the ball. Vital for a ruckman in defence or attack. Another game in afl last night where hit outs led to naught. I actually thought the 6 6 6 rule would make hit outs vital but for reasons I can’t explain they seem less important
Midseason specialSeccull can play, reminds me of a someone like Michael Barlow that could get a late call up.
Why is coff not playing midfield .. we drafted him wanting him to become a midfielder .. we will never know if he can be that if we don’t play him there ...
I know it’s early in the year but I worry that we are completely wasting another kids development again .. something doesn’t seem right about the way he’s going this year
The success rates of VFL ball magnets translating that into AFL is very very small. Magner, Ledger, Curran etc etc etc. Barlow was very much an exception.
There is a HUGE gap between being a VFL mid and AFL
I agree but it’s still a mystery why that’s not been happening as much under 666. Maybe players are still adapting, more determined to block the player the tap is going to or the inability to load one side of the ground is impacting.Hit outs to advantage is what matters. For a fair while our Saints depth has been pretty average. Combine that with the lack of strong vfl players on the list due to not being guaranteed a game and some interesting selections like playing 3-4 rucks at times has made us pretty average. Hopefully as our own depth improves and list balances out we may start to see improvement.Has anyone got a theory as to why our ressies are so lame? I don't watch them not being in the state but it just seems we have sucked at Sandy for quite some time.
Because nobody gives a crap about the Zebras. It's a petty psychological barrier, but a barrier all the same. Put them in a VFL Saints guernsey, they'll play ten times better.Has anyone got a theory as to why our ressies are so lame? You have 2 sets of players from different clubs. Hard to gel in such a short time may take a few games to get on the same page.Has anyone got a theory as to why our ressies are so lame? I don't watch them not being in the state but it just seems we have sucked at Sandy for quite some time.
Why is it hard for us but Casey and box hill seem to do it ok. I reckon the problem is our players aren’t that good. I spoke to a guy who played Friday and he said we are plenty slow. Footscray were far to fast for us.You have 2 sets of players from different clubs. Hard to gel in such a short time may take a few games to get on the same page.
If this year is a failure then its time to move on.
something is wrong at Sandy - they have a team with a lot of AFL talent and they get well beaten - Armitage , Phillips , Pierce , Marsh , Austin , Young , Rice , Coffield , Hind , Langlands , Longer can go on , but they can't be that bad.Why is it hard for us but Casey and box hill seem to do it ok. Some of those players aren’t very good even at vfl level.something is wrong at Sandy - they have a team with a lot of AFL talent and they get well beaten - Armitage , Phillips , Pierce , Marsh , Austin , Young , Rice , Coffield , Hind , Langlands , Longer can go on , but they can't be that bad.
