So far only freed up 2 spots. 3 if Cutler.
Big O goes up. 2 spots then free rookie if Basti goes.
So could downgrade 2 players and get 4 main list spots

Dodongo expects no more player trades from us. We will delist 3/4 players and move some as a rookie and say goodbye permanently to some.

Not so sure that is automatic.
I believe players need to be delisted (with the promise of putting on the Rookie list), which leaves them open to be "picked up" by other clubs as delisted free agents prior to the draft (with no compensation/trade to us) ....... risky if you want to keep the player.

Maybe those in the know can confirm if correct ......

Maybe those in the know can confirm if correct ......

There is a gentleman’s agreement between all clubs that they do not pick up a player a club has told they will rookie list.

It's less than the pick 6 and future 2nd the Dockers already knocked back. In my eyes, anyway. I'd rather have pick 6 than 10, 58 and Acres.

Future fourth and 58 aren't really worth much so in the end it's pick 10, future second rounder and Acres for Hill and a future third rounder. Fremantle comes out ahead but it's not too bad a deal depending on how Acres goes.

For (IMO) the best outside runner in the comp? Nah, I think that's a fair price. Acres is nothing more than depth and the picks are all low besides pick 10. When you look at someone like Ash who is a top 10 pick, you're praying he turns out to be as good as Brad Hill.

Yeah that is right but Dodongo can't see clubs doing that as there is some sort of gentleman's agreement between clubs.

Just like clubs will never pick up a player from a failed trade i.e, if Ah Chee fell through no one will pick them up as no one wants a player whose heart is elsewhere

There was some valid points made for sure. What were you suggesting with ‘The Answorth says hi’ part of the post? I took it as the pick we get for Taylor is likely to turn out the same? If not what did you mean. ? Yep there has been a shit load of research done on draft picks and how they all turn out. They all back my view if you were wondering.

The Answerth part was an admittedly flippant response to an oversimplification on your part - that picks after 20 are useless. The top two in our B&F this year weren't top 20 in their draft. And 8 out of the top 10 weren't. And to my rough count only 1/3 of the finals teams we fielded were top 20 picks. Sorry if I was facetious, but your premise is patently a ridiculous oversimplification of a general trend.

No doubt there are gems hidden away late in the draft, but the odds of picking one up fall away pretty significant.

Early news was that we offered him, Basti, Taylor, Cutler the option to find new homes. Robbo was supposedly attracting interest from GWS, but that's gone cold a while back. Haven't heard anything in a while. Probably a longer shot at the moment. If he doesn't, I'd expect the club would offer him a 1y contract (no inside info - that's just my opinion).
