I agree that will probably be the case.
The hyperbole attacking him is way over the top but on the other hand I can understand the cynicism - imagine being paid 3/4 of a million a year to train the house down but you're too anxious to play. That's a sweet gig. How long does this "wrapping your arms around him" as a club last? I think it's fine now, if it's still happening in a month, the wtf drumbeat will be unbearable.
The "drumbeats" are way down the list of importance from Hogan's health and wellbeing and the club's relationship with the players.

I could virtue signal for likes too, but in the real world the guy has brought pre-existing health problems to the club, and has as recently as last weekend embarked on actions that are likely to exacerbate not help them. So there will be a time limit on tolerance for him, and rightly so IMO.

Cool rapper dude to come from America to put on some kicks and the 23 to show off his skills, like MJ. Oh wait
For some of us oldies cool rapper dude is an oxymoron

Yeah as much as they say indefinite I very much doubt either Jesse nor the club will treat it that way. At some point getting out there playing will likely be the best thing for him. One of the big steps of overcoming anxiety is confronting things. But you don't confront it until you are well prepared. He'll get there. **** he's gotten through some pretty awful stuff already. Think the wrapping our arms around him needs to and will continue post him being back playing.

"Virtue signal"?? lol. It's called having a decent sense of priorities and being in touch with reality, instead of being caught up in all the emotional huff and puff.

The reality being you do what you do in order to ensure you make things better not worse.

Drumbeats mean shizen for me, although I can understand the club has certain commercial and PR realities so they will fit on their priority list somewhere (but hopefully lower than the aforementioned wellbeing and player relationships). Footy's an emotional game, you see that no more clearly than irrational responses and expectations plopped out by media and fans.

The footy & PR departments can manage peoples expectations in line with timelines on the wellbeing, not try to shoehorn the wellbeing to fit with het up expectations.

I would say that getting back out there to play as soon as is practicable would be a crucial step in the recovery and strength building. It's just ensuring the right platforms and strategies are in place to make that it sits well within a healthy mental framework.

But to a considerable extent his wellbeing is predicated on how he feels, yes anxiety disorder is a mental illness but it isn't psychosis and most people with it in most professions manage it. Some illness, like some injury, is manageable and you still do your job. So in a month's time, if judging his wellbeing still gets down to : "how ya feeling this week Jesse, oh you can train but you're too anxious to play? OK, just let us know when you're right to go" then quite reasonably people's expectations on him will be in the equation, it isn't all about him.

I'm talking way out of my league here, but on the club's instagram story of today's training session, Brennan Cox can be seen doing a training drill, that appears to be a bad drill for a bloke with a 'four week hamstring'.

Correct me sports science types.
It's a warm up drill. 4-6 weeks would indicate grade two which is a less than total tear of the muscle so he would be able to bend and move up to when he is aware of the injury again.

What he was doing shouldn't hurt him anymore than putting his shoes on.

I’m on the “rebuild “ approach. We ain’t winning no premiership in 2019.

Zero risk policy. Rest all soft tissue and Hogan first few rounds. Don’t rush tabs back, even rest Brad Hill (remember what happened last year?)

Valente, Sturt play for Peel till after bye.

Lower the expectation and stop taking frustration out on Hogan and the club.

Yes. There are professionally qualified people at the club, who would follow evidence based procedures to ensure his path to recovery is detailed, sustainable and as effective as possible. Not just sticking their heads around the corner to ask how he is.

Brilliant. Why haven't they been doing that since November when he arrived with his known anxiety disorder?

Luke Valente is out there as well, and it says on the injury list he's got a groin injury, and out for 2 weeks???

I asked him about that and he said he should hopefully be able to play next week. He said he is still injured so I am assuming it may just be a bit niggly.

How’s Tabs? Going through his KPIs? He’s listed as a list, so that’s extremely interesting

He was asked if he will be playing this week and he gave the standard "hopefully" answer.

What's to say they haven't? If psychology was such an easy fix we wouldn't have nearly one in ten people on antidepressants.

If they have they have done a bang up job, he's out on the scooby snacks last weekend and he's declared unfit to play now. I almost hope for our club's sake that they haven't cause if they have been heavily involved to date we are no hope.
