So much wrong with that analysis I'm not sure where to begin.

I'll leave it at Ben McKay being a KP Forward.........
I stopped reading it at that point.

So of course I have been asking around on who we might draft. And as expected i've got donuts apart from we will draft the best player available with every selection.
So we won't draft a KPF unless we think he's the best, if it's a mid we'll call his name.

My hunch is it will be Hollands with our first if he's still there.
Well you tried

Brilliant, insightful post.
You can't really go that hard considering the draft opinions you've been giving are puddle deep. If your whole argument is based off a few subjective hindsight looks at draft picks you could at least look at Wikipedia and get what few facts you're dealing with right.

Ben McKay a KP Forward.........

Hmmm.
They might have looked at our list and said, "They've got Larkey, who's played 29 games, and Comben, who hasn't played any, as key forwards? That can't be right..."

Are they wrong though? Our only other real 'tall forward' option is walker who we picked up as a delisted free agent.
2 out of 3 of those options missed games due to significant injuries in 2020.
Doesn't bode well for our current tall forward stocks.

I don't think they're wrong. Charlie looks promising but has an injury history as long as your arm. It's not hard to imagine a scenario where we have zero recognised key forwards available if we don't draft one this year. The club has said they'll go for best talent at #2 but, if they can't split a couple of candidates, we sure need a KPF more than another talented flanker who may make it into the midfield.

Should I mention Jesse Smith on what can happen to gun draftees?

No I wont then....

Yeah totally agree.
Which is why I think we have to take thilthorpe or macdonald at 2.

Souup what’s your thoughts on Zavier Maher?

He reminds me of a Mitch Robinson/Paddy Dangerfield blend in that he's strong, hits the contested hard, has great breakaway speed and loves roosting it. My biggest issue with him is his lack of composure (tends to blaze away and rush his disposal) and decision making (again... tends to blaze away). He also struggles to find the footy which is a tad concerning when you're drafting him as a midfielder.

He could have improved on these things throughout this year but unfortunately wasn't given the opportunity. I believe he's one of the players who was most hurt by the season not going ahead.

I view him in the 4th round to rookie range. He has some exciting traits to work with but needs a bit of time to work on his weaknesses.

I've read suggestions that he'll go within the top 25 which didn't surprise me. He's one of those players who I think some clubs will be really big on, which I get. When you have traits similar to Dangerfield that's going to be attractive to clubs. For me personally, he's more of a project player and there are a number of others I'd take in front of him as the areas he's deficient in are not easy to fix.

What’s your assessment of some of the latter KPP’s?

Honestly not a fan of many of the latter KPP's. If I was in a position where I was force to take one with a late pick I'd go Josh Treacy.
Thanks. Confirms my recent suspicions that it is a weaker KPP draft this year.
