Perkins Manager Robbie D'Orazio/Connor Sports now in damage control...Some really weird shit he has to say

Archie Perkins up for any AFL draft move: manager

But player agent Robbie D'Orazio believes Perkins' comments came out more provocative than the midfield-forward had intended.
"(Perkins is) a complex character but he understands that footy's a team sport and he's probably learning the ropes in that regard," D'Orazio told AFL Draft Radio.
"I know that all he wants to do is play footy. He said something this morning that probably didn't come out the way he meant it.
"He understands that it's a draft and he needs to enter the draft and he could end up anywhere. He's excited about that.
"Look, boys wants to be him and girls want to be with him. He's a ripper."
D'Orazio admits recruiters are probably not thrilled by Perkins' comments but says he's yet to receive any backlash..

He has more than enough tools for me to be intrigued to hav ehim on my list for at least a couple of years.

Yes. Tools. Thats the right word. He does have strengths which I think we need up forward. Speed and evasiveness will be an asset for us.

He also a good size on him, so a decent couple of preseasons into him and he has good raw potential to build on.

I hope so. Lets not sweep under the rug his off field issues. One more "major" incident will end his career with us.
Some good Coaching influences now ...ratbags being eased out

Nicks a great influence IMHO

Question, for those who understand the rules:

Currently our senior / rookie lists are 31/6. That means we need to take exactly 5 players in the ND to bring us up to the minimum of 36 on the senior list.

There has been talk of us taking more, or less, than the 5. That would bring us out of the ND with more, or less, than the 36 on the senior list.

Question: Is this possible? Can we adjust the numbers after the ND by either:

1. Taking 4 players in the ND, and then elevating a player from the rookie list after the ND to bring it up to 36?
(and presumably taking pick(s) in the RD)

2. Taking 6 players in the ND, and then delisting one after the ND?

1 is possible. 2 I don't think so????

We don't have 31 until adding Hately (tomorrow) too

If the bid came in after or just before 40, I would match on Newchurch. He is raw as hell and he has a LOT to learn still but he also has a freat upside and could turn into a genuine star with X factor in a few years time. I would not risk giving that away because I might have him more of a rookie list type pick.

He has more than enough tools for me to be intrigued to hav ehim on my list for at least a couple of years.
Would want to use his offensive weapons massively in the AFL the way it's played nowadays to survive because he has zero defensive effort.

Yes to 1. No to 2.

I don't believe you could do either of these things.

Buff Tyrill, looked like my Grandpa but was a mean back pocket
Not to mention one of the most courageous players to pull on the green and gold , no hair ,sight in one eye , could take a hanger 👍and played out a game with a broken collar bone when our bench was empty.
A true champion!

well that's Essendon like silliness because nobody is ever going to do that.

No it isn't. What you are asking a team to do is trade out of one of the best four/five players. It seems to be agreed that there is a stand out handful and from there it is evenish to pick 20. The cost of buying into that top 5 is going to be high and high not in a way of justifying it with points because Hawthorn don't need points, they need gun youngsters. If you are shifting them from the pick, there will be a premium and in this case, the Crows would want to ask themselves, do we go all in on this draft?

A few years back, we offered 8 and 13 for the Saints pick 3...on paper a fair deal but the Saints said "and what else as a first round pick are you offering" which seems more than justified now given they picked up King.

So if it gets to pick 40 or wherever it lands and we have 1 list spot left, in your opinion would you prefer

1. Newchurch
2. Borlace
3. Brodie Lake
No question...Brodie Lake.

You can't upgrade after the draft you have to do it during the draft with a pick.
You haven't needed to upgrade via the draft for several years.

The final List Lodgement is after the RD. We just need to make sure that the numbers all add up by then, meeting the AFL's mandated maximum and minimum list sizes.

As an aside looking back to the old days, my dad got to play against Bruce Jarrett and his sturt side in the mid/late 1960's in a few preseason games when he was at Hyde Park..my old man was 6.3 and broad and he told me state fullback Jarrett trotted up to him and made him look small..bur he told me he kicked a few goals on him though

I now want Phillips, whatever that will crash this place tonight. He would do it. From left field, outside the top 3 being discussed.
I'm happy choosing the best pure mid in the draft at #1. But is that Phillips or Campbell? Do the phantoms have Campbell rated lower just because he is tied?

If it's Campbell, we should call him at #1. If Syd match, we do the JUH at #2, take EH or LM @ #3, then everyone except North and Syd (who lose pick 3 and 34) move up. It puts DGB (strongly linked to Syd) back in the mix for other clubs. This gives us every chance that Thilthorpe will still be there at least until Essendon's first bid, and then we can talk to Ess about what happens in the next 4 picks.
