I agree but with Campbell and Gulden coming in this (I hope) will be fixed to a degree. Is why I want Phillips. Would love him in tandem with Rowbottom. I reckon we have the mids covered. Work the talls out in the trade period or next year. I'm biased toward Phillips.

Yep I can't even lie, like 90% of the reason I want Phillips is because he and Rowbottom would be insane.

If Mike Fitzpatrick was still chairman, he would bring in a rule disallowing players to leave the Giants until free agency time.
I reckon he is so lazy he would just call a hit squad to go around and intimate or take out the chairman of the club poaching the player.:p

Have you noticed we draft a lot from from SA and WA. I think Sydney are aware of this too. Like Stephens and Gould last year. I think this may be a component of our drafting strategy. Less go home factor.

If that is true, we should be rethinking.

I live here, and no one in their right mind would be choosing Melbourne over anywhere these days.

We have drones and helicopters flying over this weekend to make sure no one is in their backyard enjoying grand final day.

You sure you haven't just accidentally wandered onto the set of a really bad J.J. Abrams film?

Just come through on AFL website about Port Pursuing AA - see article below

https://www.afl.com.au/news/520723/...-don-wants-power-switch-port-pursues-key-swan

"While the Swans are chasing a ruckman, the Power are not expected to be willing to part with contracted pair Peter Ladhams and Sam Hayes who sit behind Scott Lycett in the club's ruck pecking order."

They're going to struggle to get a deal done in that case. They need their picks for an academy kid, they need something to offer up for Fantasia, and it's Dodoro so I'd imagine he'll be asking for 26.

But a handful of speculative lines at the bottom of an article about somebody else doesn't scream done deal to me. I think their pursuit of Aliir will fade out when both teams can't come to an agreement early on.

Yes we have but I have a funny feeling about Dawson being the next Zac Jones. The last contract was very similar to the last Jones contract. Just 2 years, yadda, yadda yadda and then goneski.

No facts just a supposition.

It's possible we may have a number of recent contracts front loaded. This will create significant cap space a year or two from now on top of losing Bud's contract.
I have a different view, back ended until JPK, Hannebery, Jack, McVeigh, Parker got their money first and then Mills, Heeney and ors got theirs later.

This will be the most volatile trade period the AFL has ever seen.

Cats claim they won't trade for Cameron
Brisbane likewise for Daniher
Dodo is in the middle of Saad, Fantasia, Caldwell, Daniher deals
Bucks said the Pies will be major players but have a bulging salary cap
Adelaide looking to match for Crouch
List sizes and TPP still unresolved

It's going to be a forking shirt show. I can't wait! This is definitely a good year not to be major players.

Feels like the journo trawls through reddit & bigfooty to write that article.

How rude are the cats really, demanded two firsts for an un contracted Kelly and were gloating about how good it is when clubs come together for a fair deal.

I find it funny that when an opposition supporter is queried as to how their salary cap can fit in another highly paid player, they will point to how a couple of players are retiring or being moved on and hence their is space. That makes sense.

Yet we can have about 25 highly paid senior players exit the club through retirement or trade since 2014, bring back nothing of any substance at all in that time, and we still seem to have no significant space.
Maybe we are paying our younger group more & or preparing to pay them more?
