2020 Draft and Trades Thread

Under the assumption we got something like a future second back yeah absolutely, but for a reason.

we dont have enough list spots to pick up more than 2 or 3 kids at the draft and I assume we’re committing those spots to Davies, Lake and Jeffries.

meaning, realistically, given we’re also likely to get Atkins, Broad and maybe Markov we MAY have 1 spot left after trading Wright/Brodie (which I don’t want to do)

Tarrant is an absolute rock in defence. He’s a good leader and isn’t known for being stupid outside of footy. Hasn’t showed signs of age effecting him yet.

we need people that are going to help us win NOW. DGB or whoever we pick up in the draft will take years. We need to put wins on the board starting from next season.

Tarrant helps us win games.

+ Getting more kids in just means more development time which just gives guys like King, Rankine, Luko etc. more time to decide to leave because we haven’t been successful.
It’s time to load up on established talent.

We need a proper KPD and he’s the only one that looks like he’s on the move. It would be a no brainer for me.
Albeit I’d obviously rather not involve 5 but can’t see north parting with him under contract for a second round pick

maybe Wright and 5 for Tarrant and Brown

There's half a dozen key defenders floating around on lists we could sign for peanuts to fill the void for 12-months until Thompson miraculously returns from the dead or Graham bulks up. List spots will be the issue.

Thompson is coming off multiple ACL tears and will be 31 by the time he returns to playing football if at all

graham may never be the player we hope he will be.

there’s no ‘will make the team immediately better’ kpd floating around other than maybe Cale Hooker who I would consider a lesser KPD than Tarrant.

depends what strategy we want to undertake heading into next season. But we’re now 11 years in and haven’t made finals once. Wins are more important than anything right now

Obviously would love more Bang for Buck but the facts are Gold Coast Suns Draft Picks are more Valuable to other teams then to us at the moment.

I still wish we would play Sammy Day at CHB. He can take the gorillas and let Collins play as a more intercept key defender which he does so bloody well.
Just not sure Day's body would hold up as a defender...

Im aware that we need to win and win now but the first comment insinuated that we give pick 5 for Tarrant. And that's massively overs. We do need mature bodies and cool heads and we need them now other wise we are doomed to repeat our first failures. Young kids having to do all the lifting and losing every week

We are going nowhere if we are trading pick 5 for Tarrant.

Not to say I'm against trading a high pick for a mature player.
It has got to be the right player though.

You could get a 90% similar player of Tarrants ability for a few lower price.
