Hello from the Drafts, Trading and Free Agency board.

Can someone please check my numbers on this, I'm trying to work out how many list places Adelaide has compared to the number of picks in order to see if there will be any pick exchanges coming.

I count 44 players on the squad this season, 38 primary list and 6 rookies:
Minus Gibbs (primary)
Minus Knight (primary)
Minus Wilson (rookie)
Minus Taylor (rookie)

That has Adelaide at 36 primary list spots taken with 2 rookie list spots. There will be rookies upgraded potentially chewing up more space, but if we are looking at 38 primary list spots:

2 picks in the draft with 7 picks currently in the points range.

Are there more out of contract players?
Some say Brad Crouch will go. I don't believe it personally...

Mackay, Crocker, Poholke and Gallucci
There's three potentially more there, unless Keys was upgraded, we are at 5 draft picks.

I was thinking that Adelaide might buy a future first off a club with a high academy player this year for that block of picks between 20 and 60.

Keays has a 2 year extension

That's a good point.

Is Keys on the primary list next year? 5 or 6 spots

Also, in seriousness, Atkins gone as FA, Hartigan traded to Hawthorn

Thanks for compiling that - interesting reading.

So basically, history shows we are reasonably good at picking at this range.

If it comes down to 22 and 23 for pick 14, then we should definitely keep the 2 x picks in the 20's.

Omitting James Fantasia's first two, we aren't too bad. A little early with the last 2 to call though.

6 picks in 30 years says something about why we aren't an overly successful club.

9 2018 Chayce Jones
6 2019 Fischer McAsey

Pretty damning to have had six top 10 picks in our entire history.

Two were duds, one left us in his prime to go on and win a Brownlow, one has had an decent career somewhere else, and the jury is out on two others (too early to tell). Not one club legend (official or unofficial) amongst our entire top 10 draft history.

Not bad to make a Grand Final in 2017 with no top 10 picks on the list.

And for something cheerful and interesting, our first picks at the the rookie draft each year: (Numbers in brackets are games played after we drafted them).

2019 Ben Keays (16)
2018 Kieran Strachan (1)
2017 Patrick Wilson (2)
2016 Sam Shaw
2015 Paul Hunter
2014 Reilly O'Brien (37)
2013 Charlie Cameron (73)
2012 Kyle Hartigan (113)
2011 Rory Laird (160)
2010 Timothy Milera
2009 Luke Thompson (20)
2008 Ricky Henserson (90)
2007 James Moss
2006 Andrew McIntyre
2005 Brad Sugars
2004 Ryan Nye
2003 Tim Hazell
2002 Hayden Skipworth (39)
2001 Paul Thomas
2000 Kane McLean
1999 Michael Doughty (231)
1998 Stuart Bown (4)
1997 Ben Marsh (48)
1996 Ben Marsh (48)

And because there's been talk that we might use it, our picks in the PSD (and games played):
