Looking at those list of players we've taken in their certain spots we have a better strike rate in the Pre season draft than we do in the top 10
Also better in the 20's and 40's than in the top 10, how bloody sad is that.
Had a lot more practice with those.

depends if they think McDonald projects as the higher talent?..also Buddy may not have too much left in the tank (remaining years on the contract aside) and he would become a very nice replacement
Personally I don't think there's much at all between McDonald and Grainger-Barass for what they project into the future....Just one looks to be very good forward and the other a very good defender with perhaps a little more versatility.

(Galluci)He has to be worth something. I would resign him. Certainly before McKay. New coach and system. Pyke and Campo killed youth development. He's been out for a season injured so deserves a new contract. Maybe 1 year. He certainly looks to have been active in rehab.

I've always thought that we should try him out of the back pocket in the role Laird was playing.

In a nutshell, Hawks have already spoken with Bulldogs about their 1st round pick, but apparently the Crows are 'far ahead' in what they can offer, also mentioned in a round-abouts way us agreeing not to bid on JUH at Pick 1

At this point id rather we use 22/23 in a pick swap for the pies first next year instead of the bullies pick 14 this year..

I think with the absolute shambles the pies are in at the moment that they could really struggle next year amd not make the 8.

Even still.. if they did come 8th again next year.. that pick will be a lot more valuable than pick 14 this year.

Edit: then again.. we could get 14 off the bullies for 22 and 40... thus keeping 23..

And then trade 14 to the pies for their 2021 first + something else in our favour...

Dont forget they have daicos who is very highly rated next year and they may want to trade out of 2021 1st round if they think they are no chance of being able to use that pick before a bid comes in

Yeah i think the rumour going around is that daicos is gonna be a top 5 pick so they want to trade out their 2021 1st as they are probably gonna lose it anyway.

We need to cash in

Collingwood aren't trading that pick unless the deal is heavily stacked in their favour.

After all, no way you'd trade it for a fair deal to both sides before you knew exactly how Daicos ended up being rated and you've played out 2021.

Pretty sure Collingwood will want the points from 22/23 next year and not this year
Why?... so they can waste them being spent on daicos?..

They need to do what Port did last year.. trade out their 2020 1st rounder so it didnt get wasted matching a bid for Jones..

Don't think there's much doubt now that Sydney won't be taking Thilthorpe almost for certain, I'm even very doubtful they'd seriously look at Hollands or McDonald at #3....Aliir Aliir to Port now makes Sydney long odds on to take Denver Grainger-Barras at #3 IMO, certainly that's the way I'm reading the tea leaves.
Have Sydney drafted a defender with a top 20 pick lately?

Seems like their defence is usually late picks and rookie picks

And most (all?) of their early picks go on midfielders and forwards

My guess is if they draft DGB it’s to play forward.

It feels incredibly depressing seeing Essendon with such a strong hand in the draft compared to what we had going into the draft.
They havent got a top 5 pick and, if you believe the “experts” the top 5 of this draft are where its at... but the next 6-20 players are all relatively even..

This was like 2 years ago, when all year we though we had pick one then Carlton improved, the afl gave Gold Coast pick 2 and then port jumped us in picks.

Does ESS come knocking on our door for #22 / #23 ??

Jye Caldwell
Greater Western Sydney has spent most of the week telling Essendon it wants a first-round pick for its 20-year-old midfielder who is seeking a trade after two years at the club. The only problem is that the Bombers' first-round picks currently sit at No.6, 7 and 8. Essendon has held talks with Brisbane over splitting one of those for the Lions' picks No.18 and 19 – one of which could then be used for Caldwell – but as of Wednesday night that hadn't progressed to a meaningful level. The Bombers' offer of a future second-round pick for Caldwell has been rebuffed by the Giants. – Mitch

Would be a good idea

If it comes down to 22 and 23 for pick 14, then we should definitely keep the 2 x picks in the 20's.
In a dog's breakfast of a draft, pick 14 (17 by time we select) is definitely not better than two shots in the mid 20s. Just not enough form line to do it.

Also prefer not to be beholden to the Dogs, I reckon we bid on the best player in the draft at pick 1 and because of the AFL's NGA rort, the public look of Dogs having to match would be priceless. JUH should by right be ours as the Spooners to select for the AFC but he goes with a discount! to a Melbourne club, how effing nice.

Purely based on watching highlights Thilthorpe looks like a special talent and I’d be extremely happy with him.

But Knightmare on his draft board reckons both JUH and McDonald will be better than the King brothers. I personally don’t understand what elite A+++ attributes McDonald has though? He just seems to be a solid player in all facets.

He also believes Will Phillips is every bit as good as Rowell yet people here don't want to touch him.
