They could all be given 9 home games this year on the condition that this 1 of them

The WA teams will probably be given 17 home games between them with the team that hosts the Derby getting that as their ninth.

That makes sense to me-- (I'm assuming that would include the "home" games they play in Queensland awaiting the border to reopen).

I suspect with majority of the teams outside of the hub that it will be a 8 home/8 away situation for the remainder of the season and that the 'odd numbered' game will be whatever happened back in Round 1.

On the other hand, this guy makes some good points

Yes.

But you also don't travel at all between 2-5.

Big advantage when on short breaks, also considering the fly in fly out same day rules.

The AFL scheduled us for the 1:10pm game against GWS, we have to fly in the same morning and play the game, why the early game?... never change AFL.

That wouldn't make sense to me. 9 teams get the advantage of an extra home game this season. You can reduce that by 4 by having those games as effectively neutral

Mentioned in the Hawthorn board but assuming each team plays the others once it really doesn't matter the order. I don't mind playing the hard teams first because it means we'll have a easier run come the back end of the season
More annoyed about playing North at their home ground as our home game.

Because Essendon are also playing in Sydney that day and North are poorer than Essendon

They are technically on the road the entire time. They don't get to sleep at home for over a month.

Correct. But they will be aclimatised to their resort accomodation, and only have to walk across the golf course to play. The away team have to fly on the morning of the match. A fair advantage to the WA and SA teams you have to admit.

Also likely more variance in the opening weeks I think, so it could break nicely for Hawthorn if you can beat north and steal one of the others.

Until literally anything happens with their families back home. Will the Victorian players be able to visit their parents?

Well actually it seems we are chartering a flight together.

They have to leave earlier for our game, we have to wait for them to finish theirs.

I think his point far outweighs yours when it comes to a match day advantage.

Do you have much experience when it comes to sports psychology? The effect on performance from stress in downtime?

I'm not expecting hub teams to be able to sustain peak performance, especially if the clubs aren't able to give them downtime due to close games.
