Again this morning Gary Lyon is crapping on about teams not tagging Martin, he also says during game telecasts "Why doesn't someone ever tag Grimes?" In Last Friday nights game Garys insight told us "You cant let Short get 46 touches, teams need to go to work on him with a tag". He also thinks Lambert needs a hard tag too. Thats a lot boys oppos need to cover Gary .smh

In the same breath, Jake Nial article saying Richmond isn't very talented compared to other premiership teams, but will also say they are favorites again. It's pretty funny, they're not willing to admit Richmond is any good but in the same breath you get 4 tags, they'll win again and a bntt hurt football admin changing rules to stem Richmond. What a time.

Garry selected Mark Neeld to take his team to a premiership.

Gazza tagged Billy's missus pretty hard so he knows what he's talking about.

**** I hate the talent thing.

Rance, Grimes, Astbury, Vlas and Houli is as talented as anything the Hawks/Cats/Lions had

2 brownlow medalist in the midfield, lions had 3, cats 2 and Hawks 1. Jack is a triple coleman medalist, Buddy has 4 and Roughead and Brown have 1 each.

They all carried some okay players who most of the football media wouldn’t rate, Notting, Shatlock, McDonald, Byrnes, Wojinski, Blake, Hawkins (in 2009 especially), Landford, Spaghner, Hale, Duryea etc...

Martin, Cotchin, Short, Houli, Vlas, Grimes, Rance, Prestia, Nank, Riewoldt, Edwards, Lunch, Bolton are easily the equals of those other teams.

Then the final 8 spots - Baker, Astbury, Graham Mcintosh Balta and friends are all extremely effective and talented footballers for their position.

We have equal to the same talent. In the same breath however, i agree with the logic that our sum of all parts (systems and players, who play more for each other) are superior to that of those other sides.

It pisses me off no end when I read about how Richmond's team of nobodies somehow keeps winning Premierships. According to the football media if your team isn't lined with top ten draft picks it must be a bunch of good-ordinary footballers who've overachieved. It's bullshit. We've built our team from the ground up, largely the hard way, through astute drafting in the later rounds and phenomenal development, turning rookies into genuine guns and get zero credibility because they didn't get a song and dance on Draft Night and therefore can't possibly be talented footballers. Rant over.

I was trying to think of a team combining the 4 sides.

FB - C. Johnson Scarlett Grimes
HB - Hodge (VC) Rance Enright

Gibson could replace Grimes, Vlastuin has been scammed out of multiple AAs but no issue with Enright and Hodge ahead, probably the best two HBF for last 20 years. Lepper was great but Rance and Scarlett again are the two best KPD of last 20-30 years and lake is behind Lepper.

c - Lappin Voss (c) Bartel
Foll - Ottens Ablett Martin

The second wing spot was hard as all these teams had great centre square mids. Jimmy got it because I feel he could play like winger. Black, Mitchell and Cotchin unlucky but you’ve got 3 guys would be in the top dozen players of all time. Ottens is the best ruck any team had but Nank would be second, Keating was great in finals but always injured.

HF - Chapman Franklin Akermanis
FF- C.Rioli Reiwoldt Gunston/Breust/Martin or Ablett

The FP was hard do you go a pure forward or do sneak in an extra mid and rest Dusty/Ablett forward. Cotchin probably misses out if you go pure forward as I’d have Mitchell and Black on bench ahead of him.

Bench - Mitchell Black Nank Burgoyne/Edwards

Burgoyne/Edwards was hard, most casuals would disagree, but they can play on all 3 lines and be class, they have some magic and generally make their teammates better. Right now Burgoyne gets the nod but by the end of their careers I hope Shedda is recognized for how special he is.

5 - Lions
6 - Cats
6 - Hawks
5 - Tigers

pretty even spread.

A champion team will always beat a team team of champions. These morons are actually paying us a compliment without even realising it.

Whilst commentators and scribes sook and moan and drown in their salt, the oppo teams know how good Richmond and their players are, they come up against them each week and you dont hear them whinging in their Powerade about how average Richmond are.

That's what being the benchmark is. People always criticise what they don't understand or simply can't comprehend. There are at least three or four emerging superstars in this team along with some true club and AFL greats Rance, Martin, Cotchin, Reiwoldt, Grimes, Edwards.

Then you have Lynch, Lambert, Vlaus, Houli, Astbury, Prestia who are all guns. Call them role players if you like but they're actually very good footballers, match winners on a given day and would play in practically any other team.

Emerging stars like Short, Bolton, Balta, Baker and even Castagna have so much upside that they will form the nucleus of the team for the next five to ten years.

Then waiting in the wings Ross, RCD, Martyn, Ralph Smith and perhaps Naish oh and a little bloke called Maurice Rioli Jr who could be anything. All these just busting for a game.

Even our actual roleplayers Caddy, Kmac, Pickett, Graham, Daniel Rioli, Aarts have all had individual match winning games, some of them more than a few times.

We have a factory down in Punt Road turning salt into sugar baby !
