Not sure Williamson will get many games? He is a likely type though, the Blues rate him.

I like the Walters and Wingard picks. I hear Wingard has been training with the mids. Nice picks with Gaff and Zerrett will be interesting to see how they go.

Yeah Williamson for me is pick that i can easily swap up to McAsey or even down to a Brander or Gould. So allows me flexibility. Yeah Wingard is going to be a Marsh watch, if he has a reasonable split of time in mids, ill start, cause upside is big. Walters is another slightly under priced pick and Freo have a good run to start the season.

Somewhat settled on this team, main potential changes before Marsh/round 1 could be either of Steel/Lyons up to Coniglio/Cripps to play a slightly straighter bat and mitigate risk. Other main change could be Crisp down to another value back such as Witherden/Blakely in order to allow Jacobs up to ROB.

Otherwise hoping to stay strong on this structure, the rookies I have selected hopefully leaves some flexibility come round 1 teams as well.

I always like to begin creating my team by loading it with guys who I think provide value and upside which generally leads it to being poor structurally but gives me a group of players to monitor during pre season matches. It usually leaves me with a lot of work but I like to take a few risks and move against the grain a little.

Generally don’t get too caught up on rookies early on as it can be a lottery at times

Am away from a PC for a couple days and with have limited time but would also like to share what I’m rolling with at the moment.

DEF: Sicily, Houston, Docherty, Birchall, Roberton, Young (rookie, rookie)

MID: Macrae, Dunkley, Steele, Walsh, Mitchell, Gibbs, Rowell, Pickett (rookie, rookie)

RUCK: ROB, Celgar (rookie, rookie)

FWD: Ebert, Wingard, Brayshaw, C.Jones, Townsend, rookie (rookie, rookie)

So as you can see midfield and defence run deep but that’s probably the two lines that o have confidence in. The forward line Is scarce but also the line I lack confidence in finding value at the moment so am happy to hold off and chase it elsewhere. Have plenty of cash in reserve to bring either Grundy or Whitfield but at this current stage I’ve decided I will probably only roll with one

Interested to hear some thoughts on my currently alternative but ever changing side 😂

Birchall in Def is the only one I wouldn't have yet

I think that Steele, Walsh, Gibbs combined are too risky when there are better alternatives available, maybe just one of them?

You'll need a plan to upgrade your rucks and stick to it, maybe Ceglar Fwd as cover for a Ladhams/Naismith if you want to go down that path.

Fwds are probably the major worry as you'll probably have to upgrade the whole lot of them.

I do like thinking outside the square because what's the point of doing what everyone else does? You just end up as being one of the 'also rans'

Your missing a ‘player’ in midfield. Should be 8 starting but I only count 7. Going to assume it’s another rookie which means your mids run similar to most on this board.

Defence certainly runs deep but IMO that’s where you can bat deeper with rookies

Cheers for the input guys. Missing player in the midfield was Tom Mitchell.

I think my obvious changes that I could make would be to upgrade Celgar to Grundy which is doable with funds available and also downgrade a defender and one of my mid price mids and use money to bolster the forward line.

At this stage I’m happy to see how things pan out over Marsh Cup and not force too much craziness and player swapping each day.

Very big move taking on Grundy when also potentially taking on Whitfield and Macrae! I've started toying with the idea of leaving Whitfield out as I can see merit in it. Just feel as though no Grundy isn't the right call, but you will be saving a load of cash and if he gets off to a slow start you could really have a leg up on the competition.

I guess another thing to note is, who's your safe walk up captain? If Dunkley continues his form from last year he could certainly be the guy, but if I were taking on Grundy I think I'd be locking Macrae into my team as a very reliable captaincy option.

Big fan of the Oliver pick, I've had him majority of the pre season, however recently took him out because of the possible round 2 De Boer tag :'(

You're either set up for a masterstroke of a season or absolute pulling-hair-out carnage with all those PODS.

In that case of my PODs which do you think I should swap to popular players? I'm finding it hard to fit someone like Macrae into my structure but I guess I could go Taranto to him.. Selwood I might ditch since I'm now worried about Cats falling off a cliff this season, but hard to get much structure and still fit Whitfield in up forward and I'd be nervous going without him.

Not one to tell somebody how to structure their team, but if it were mine...I'd bump Taranto (whose been stated for more time up forward by Cameron as of yesterday) up to a bonafide premium like MacRae (or Kelly) and knock Lyons, who will play more of an outside role with CEY coming into the side, to a Seb Ross or Taylor Adams type whom had poorer seasons than usual last year. Jarryd Lyons averaged over 20 points higher in wins and second half of season compared to first - definite one to watch in MCS but his data is far from consistent. If you're worried about Jelwood, Viney had a great hitout from limited TOG for a similar price yesterday as well. Still maintains a POD structure.

That's just my take on things mate good luck in 2020
