Ouch .... feel for Hinge.
Looks like he will be moving on for greater opportunity at the Crows.
Lions were probably only offering a 1 year contract. Adelaide may be offering 2.

Couldn't disagree more with this piece but I don't think it is poorly written or anything - it just drastically overrates Witherden and Stef Martin of this year:

Props on them for coming up with a ranking system which would be quite a challenge. Main issue I see with their system is that it ranks players based on their last 40 AFL matches played (since 2018), with no weighting it seems towards more recent performances. For example, Buddy is ranked the 37th best player in the league in their "2020" player ratings, despite not playing a single game this year. According to the same rankings, Adams is our 8th best player and Starcevich is 27th.

If we were expecting Hinge to stay I wonder if we'll look at any delisted free agents as a replacement

Or perhaps look for a mature ruck

Hinge, who was offered an extension to stay, was delisted from the Lions on Wednesday but will be free to move to the Crows when the DFA window opens on Thursday.
Can't blame the guy for picking a better offer with more playing time in his home state.

Just come on to post this!
Who is available?
Any decent Rucks?

I wonder if we will look at trading Melbournes first next year to try and get back into mid first round this year?

We are spreading the age profile as our last 2 first rounders have barely got a crack so far.

Staying with 2 first rounders next year would be better I think.

For whom? I think it would depend entirely on if there was a particular prospect we coveted. 2021 is projected to be a better draft, remember.
Only because we have the extra list spot available now.
Elijah Holland’s is a possibility of falling a bit on draft night so we may take the punt if he falls to 10 or beyond.
probably unlikely though.

Disagree...thoroughly well written piece only underlying what a few people think, including me.

Debacle of an off-season by pushing out Witherden and Martin and not doing anything to accommodate David Noble, the real brains behind the organisation, not to mention only bringing in two broken down players in Daniher and Cockatoo that have shown literally nothing for three years.

Hardly surprising the angst that some have with this piece because how dare anyone call anything into question at the club. You're seriously kidding yourself if you don't think culture at the club won't take a massive hit and key players look elsewhere in 12 months time.

All of the club's own doing though.

The only positive is the re-signing of Ryan Lester today.

In 2018, you referred to that trade period as a debacle, stating that Neale for Beams was like for like and that McCarthy was too injury prone. You also said the Gold coast pick trade was a disaster.

Does this give you pause on melting too early?

I'm sorry to see Hinge delisted - I really liked the little I saw of him. I was also sorry to see Ben Keays, Lewy Taylor and Josh Walker leaving and Witho being traded but list management is a ruthless business - particularly in the current climate. It will be great if Mitch picks up a spot at the Crows and flourishes where there is more opportunity.
Can any of u gurus provide any info/opinions on Mitch Hinge? Not much known about him on our board. Where was he playing in your reserves team?
Thanks

Let me get this right- you would rather 34 year old Martin, Witho and Hinge (both who could not get a game) on the list rather than Joe Daniher and Cockatoo? So do you want a crack at the flag or a good culture (even though it appears our players could not be happier) and less talent on the list?

Yeah, I doubt Hollands falls past pick 4. The club have been tight-lipped as usual about which draft prospects they like, so unless there's a major, major surprise like Deven Robertson falling to round 2, I can't see them trading in.
