Let's get Callaghan. Trade 7 and 15 to the Giants and get the midfielder with the most potential in the draft.

If not Im asking Brisbane how much they want Pick 7. Can't split the guys from 4-20.

I'd love Callaghan but not sure the Giants would do the swap. I don't think Brisbane or we would want to do the second.

I would be hoping Giants are set on landing Gibcus which he should get through to our pick and that Callaghan interviews poorly to potentially help them in their decision. Wishful thinking perhaps.

It's a shame that the champs never got underway and there was no finals for the NAB league. Really hard to seperate the players as a result, which would change the way pick 7 vs two later first round picks would be viewed in terms of value. A player like Mitch Owens may have shot up the draft board had it been a standard season, reminds me of Taranto at the same age.

The more I watch of this draft, the more I would prefer to keep our picks and take a chance on more kids. In particular this draft has a lot of players in it I would consider to be Richmond type picks.

I think Gold Coast will take Gibcus.

Owens is handy, don't see him at Taranto level though. (I was very high on Taranto at the time, and still am.)

Reckon we get 38 for ccj 39 ish for chol which leaves us 7, 15,26,28, 38,39, 40, 44. Trade 28, 40, 44 for pick 17.
It would leave
7, 15, 17, 26, 38, 39.
If we cannot do some serious damage with that draft hand then we deserve to fail.

With our first pick i still like Erasmus. with 15 id hope Van Rooyen is still there. go best mid with 17 and hope Bazzo is there with 26.38 and 39 on best available or try and sort a need out. Would look at a player like Schlensog with a late pick if we had one maybe trade caddy for a pick in the 50"s.

I really like that draft hand and the prospect of trading 28, 40 and 44 for 17. Is it a viable possibility though?

It seems to me that we are eager to keep most of our draft picks but also wish to bring in players through free agency and possibly through trading out some of our picks. I hope we do not use draft picks for players. I hope we bring in players through free agency but leave our future alone.

Bulldogs will trade 17 for whatever maximises their points.
We are in a position to offer 28, 40 & 44. Otherwise we'd probably be trading those picks into future picks.
Gold Coast could outbid us and offer 22, 43, 55 if they only plan on using 3 draft picks.
However, trades will change everyone's draft hands anyway.

An interesting read for those wanting to trade up to pick 2 to secure Callaghan.

Compare the Pair: Finn Callaghan / Josh Sinn (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro) - Aussie Rules Draft Central
Thanks that’s a great read/comparison.

Sinns aerial ability is a real positive imo. Add that to his Line breaking speed, footskills and great size he’s an enticing package.

of course Callaghan is every bit (and more) exciting but unless we do some serious trading up he’s a pipe dream

If we end up trading say CCJ for Tarrant and 38, and end up with 39 for Chol compo, would we be better off trading 38, 39, 40, 44 for Dogs 17/18? Ends up around 1702 points and I don't see us taking more than 5 players in the main draft.

That's too generous.

17/18 will become 19/20 so 28 + 44 for that pick still gives them more points.

Yeah but they won't just want more points, they'll want enough points to stop them going in to a huge deficit next year.
28+44 only gives 1039 points, barely more than what they already have.

If Darcy is bid on at Pick 3, with the 20% father son discount it's still 1787 points, I reckon they'd be pretty happy knowing they'd be going into next year only 90 points in deficit as opposed to 700 or so.
