For those who aren’t quite in a position to do a full phantom draft, but who would still like to have a go at predicting the draft, please use this thread to post your predictions :)

The current draft order is available in the pinned thread, here:

In accordance with board rules, phantom drafts which do not fulfil the requirements of a full first round using the current draft order (at time of posting), and preferably with a bit of explanation and willingness to explain your decisions, may also be merged into this thread.

Following the Trade Period, the current order for the first round of the draft is:

  1. North Melbourne
  2. GWS Giants
  3. Gold Coast Suns
  4. Adelaide
  5. Hawthorn
  6. Fremantle
  7. Richmond

No Mac Andrew for Richmond if Hobbs and Ward are still on the board

Tell the Richmond brain trust that! If I were running Richmond I'd take one of Hobbs, Ward or Rachele over Mac. But given Richmond have 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds this year, I can see them taking the high risk long term project with their first pick and then taking more ready made players later on.

I just dont think that Max is the risk we would take, If there was gonna be a risk it would be Rachele. With soldo coming back into the side this year i honestly doubt that Mac will be selected for us. I would honestly be upset if we did skip a top 10 mid

There has been talk over Richmond wanting to package up the Geelong first with later picks to move up, perhaps you could even take Mac and one of Hobbs or Ward. I agree with your overall sentiment. If Richmond don't take Mac who will?

I'm not sure who will. My guess is a finalist later in the round such as Sydney since they can afford to take the risk, Maybe St Kilda for him to develop as Marshalls partner once Ryder is done

Richmond have CCJ, Chol, Miller and Biggie all developing talls at 199cm or over. Plus Soldo returning from his knee. Even assuming Chol leaves, we would be last in line to take Mac Andrew imo. Richmond will be into ball winners like Hobbs, Ward, Roberts etc (and perhaps Rachele for his XFactor) to come up under Cotchin, Prestia and Edwards. Just can't see us being into another ruckman given Nank is still only 26 as well.

I really like the idea of getting Rachelle, If we didnt need a genuine ball winner i would definitely want him.

I think StKilda would see him as a possible replacement for Paddy Ryder and to come up under Rowan Marshall.

I have my fingers crossed for him too. If we took Rachele but then missed on Hobbs and Ward then Matty Roberts might be a nice consolation.

The strength of the top 20 this year is the midfielders and how relatively close a lot of them are, if you've got two first rounders like GWS/ Richmond the midfielder you get at Pick 7 isn't going to be that much better than the one later in the first round, taking Andrew who has some skills that not many have at the next level isn't the end of the world when you'll still get a Roberts, Johnson, Butler, etc. 10 picks later

Would really like that, Rachelle in my opinion has the potential to be the best of this draft class in the future. That and his name would be the most fun to say after a big goal

Pretty sure it's only one L so yes, that would make it Ra-shell-ee. Stand to be corrected tho.
