Hawks future first is way more valuable than 10. Its likely to be a top 2 pick and certain to be at least top 5.

Seems like a very fair deal.
There is no certainty about what their pick will be just as there was no certainty about the Pies first being too 2 this year.

However there is certainty about the players available this year and at pick 8(10) it is looking very sweet. There's no way we would pay a premium for that deal. However we would expect a premium for it.

Who is finishing below the Hawks next year?
Potentially any and all of North, GCSs, Collingwood, Crows and Richmond. We could as well, and WC could slide.

I don't have a problem with trading into a future round for a reason, but no way would we pay a premium to achieve that.

That is correct with Mitchell and McRae, but they don’t have the cattle yet, 2 or 3 seasons each before pushing for finals, both will have veterans leaving next year and fresh young squads.

They will both have positive influences on their teams and bring them up maybe quicker than people think….but not next year.

Geelong MAY fall, but out of the finals, not so sure, stk should get/play better with their players un-injured, wce is an uncertainty at the moment and no way lions fall out of the eight.

Dusty has maintained from early on that he will not play on well into his 30’s and being that his contract is up in 2024 and he will be 33 that may see him out therefore giving him 3 years left, he will be fine and still be a contributor for those 3 years and come back well from this injury To help push the tigers hopefully back into the finals bracket.
Hawks have the cattle to push the 8, if no major injuries occur.

No chance Richmond or WC finish below the Hawks and its very unlikely the Pies or u will either. Hence its pick 4 at worst and pick 1 at best. Either way a lot better than no.10 tonight.

What was the Pies pick "at worst" going to be this year before they traded it to GWS? Did anyone have it at pick 2?
sharp falls are a lot more likely than unforeseen sharp rises

Probably not 2 but after their off-season I was hoping we traded for it. Probably would've given up more than they got from GWS as well.

Melbourne?
I think most thought the pieces were there, premiers not so much, but being a good side wasn't unexpected.

Generally if teams are expected to finish in the bottom few they may surprise a few spots, but rarely do they all of a sudden compete for finals
