200k in the bank atm which could get me from Cerra to Gaff but sitting on it till closer to teams being announced and we have hopefully some rookies announced for round 1

Edit: with the news of Saints rucks my god is Maxy's first 3 weeks sexy as hell may have to go Grundy to Gawn

Current set-up:

D: Lloyd, Laird, Short, Young, Jones, Butts (Kosi, Highmore)
M: Zerrett, Walsh, Taranto, Serong, Caldwell, Rowell, Powell, Downie (Brockman, Gulden, Jordon)
R: Gawn, Flynn (Meek)
F: Dangerfield, Phillips, Butters, Rowe, Campbell, Macrae (Jones, Bergman)

Have 182k left to assess things.
Options for that:
1. Add to Caldwell/Serong and get another premium mid
2. Downgrade another expensive rookie eg. Campbell, Macrae and use that extra cash
3. Get an actual R2

Undecided but liking the spine of the team.
I think maybe get a proper R2. The grind to get that rookie into a decent R2 down the track will be quite costly. I mean it’s high risk high reward.

Only concern is possible 1 too many midpricers. If we can get an extra good on-field rookie and add a premo (eg. Short, Danger).
I like it though!

Like it though- Simpkin is tasty, Jelly is a good POD!

Midfield wow!!
Nice set-up, Hunter Clark intriguing.

Really like the look of that mate! Do you se Hunter getting a solid run through the midfield even with the inclusion of Crouch, and Higgins to an extent who will chop in and out. Saints are building a pretty solid midfield.

I think the natural progression will see Hunter Clark spend more time in the Mids and increase his scores. He’s shown when he has gone into the midfield he can score well and I may be mistaken but pretty sure he started in the Mids the other day? He attended 16 CBAs which was 42% which sees a good mix

Also after spending the money on my Mids I don’t have the cash to upgrade him at the moment

Feel free to rip sh*t into my team... I'm famously very sh*t at this

I can see the non-selection of Bailey Williams biting me. I'll have to keep an eye on that.

I've got 1 word to say to ya Kim - check injury list. Half your team will be on it

And not sure what you mean by non selection of Williams, but he's at R2

Oh you mean non selection of Williams by the Eagles, not you personally

Yeh, just start again.
Whitfield out for unknown time.
Milera season.
Both your rucks won't play first month.
Walters did his hammy
Xerri not in North's plans.

Hit clear team and just have a look at how everyone else has structured their teams. That'll give you a great understanding of where round 1 teams are headed

Or just copy and paste the trader's hype team - it's grouse!

If Hunter, Flynn, Meek and Fullarton all get announced as making their debut during the next week, I think I'll go with them as R1, R2, R3 and utility.
Leaves me with tremendous depth everywhere else- Short D4, Green M6, Caldwell F4.

Can’t go too wrong with the side mate! A lot of stock standard picks with a few well acknowledged and justified uniques in there.

Like me, I’m assuming you’re banking on Gaff enjoying his time back at Optus, relishing the longer quarters and reduced interchange and really junking it up late in a few games? Think he can push a 115 type season out. Haven’t watched the game from the weekend but assuming he was cruising? Expecting him to push that 83% tog up to 88-90%.

I didn’t watch but yes I reckon Gaffy will go well he is consistent as and in good touch though I know not as many prefer him as M1 particularly those on the eastern seaboard

Is there a reason why Serong didn’t play on the weekend mate? Hasn’t been on my radar due to price for me, but just wondering if this may affect your decision to pick him.

Rate the luck of Nank the Tank, think he can push 85-90+ if he keeps himself right. Only played a portion on the weekend but you’d be happy with his output in that. Should line up in round one as number one ruck

Dow admittedly entered my team at one point although I took him out as it begun to look like a case of too many mouths a lt Carlton to feed for me. Williams out for round one bodes well for him though. Hasn’t ever been a massive %tog guy either which concerns over fitness, but if you’re backing him in it’s under the belief he’s built on that, I think I would’ve liked to have seen just a bit more from him though. Still at his price a relatively safe pick, easy to downgrade to a strong performing rookie

thanks man I’m pretty happy with the team for now and will see if any changes on naming of the sides for R1 particularly rookies.

didn’t watch the game but listed to a little of it, I back Gaffy in as M1 and agree you, though many would not
Go that way Ah well we will see how
It goes.

yes I see value in nank as a stepping stone to allow strength in other lines.

WOW!! I'm looking at Gawn, Meek and Flynn but not sure if I trust enough JS to start anymore

Thoughts ?
50k in bank. Not quite sold on Serong or Daniel.
Love this. Only technically 4 rookies on field. Batting deep which I think we need to this season.

Pretty similar to my side which is probably why I like it. The only pick I really don't like is Sloane. Bloke is a walking zimmer frame, feel it's only a matter of time before he's injured trying to carry the Crows on his shoulders. Although if he bangs out 3-4 quick decent scores then you'll be laughing.

As for Serong and Daniel. Serong I love. Think he could do an Oliver/Taranto/Worpel type thing in his second season. Annoyingly didn't get a look at him in the pre season game but apparently he was best on in the intra club. Daniel is a ripper pick, probably prone to being tagged this year after his AA year. I feel like AFL coaches are always a year behind on us fantasy folk and I'm dumbfounded that he wasn't tagged more last year. Although he did go at 111 in his last 5 last year. Monsterous. If you're feeling it's too risky then you could always move him to someone like Short/Duggan/Stewart type

Like the setup, just not the players!!
SLoane didn't look great on the weekend and I think Rowell will be a slow starter.
I'm also not keen on Butters or Serong as I don't think either of them will be keepers and at their price they sort of have to be!

SLoane out, Clark to the mids, and replace with Markov? Then Serong to a Merrett type?

Finally really happy.
Only $81k left so if Drew isn't named I will put Danger in the midfield and swap Walsh for Caldwell.

Also really like Will Powell, his JS is better than Clark but maybe less scoring ability and no DPP.

Laird, Short, Daniel, Clark, Markov, Webster (Kozi, Highmore)

Merrett, Gaff, Walsh, Taranto, Drew, Powell, Gulden, Downie (Jordan, Smith)

Gawn, Flynn (Meek)

Danger, JDG, Phillips, Hind, Atkins, Warner (Jones, Rowe) (Hunter)

M
It works quite well. Tarranto at M6 seems a luxury. McEvoy in defence as insurance in case something goes wrong.

y gosh I love the look of this team. Your rucks have me excited to see how it plays it. My only concern is Dow. The role he had in the preseason is goated. But he did nothing with it, granted it wa just preseason and not everyone takes it seriously.
im more excited to see how your team performs than my own!

Very very similar to mine.
